The future of Jeopardy?
4-23-2009 | moi

I'm a big fan of Jeopardy, but lately (lately as in 'under the Obama regime') the show's liberal bias has gone from mild and tolerable to in-your-face and highly irritating. The latest stunt was having uber-leftist witch Maureen Dowd read a clue that bashed Ken Starr.

I wonder if this is Jeopardy's future.

* * *

"I'll take 'Politicians' for $200, Alex."

"This vice-presidential candidate claimed that she could see Russia from her house."

"Who is Sarah Palin?"

"Correct for $200. Aren't we self-proclaimed intellectuals so much smarter than her?"

* * *

"I'll take 'Religion' for $400, Alex."

"The word 'Islam' translates to this in English."

"What is 'peace'?"

"Correct for $400. Don't believe those dictionaries and encyclopedias that'll try to tell you it means 'submission'."

* * *

"I'll take 'Military History' for $600, Alex."

"This attack by the Viet Cong and NVA completely crushed South Vietnamese and American forces."

"What is the Tet Offensive?"

"Correct for $600. And after that, the communists went on to capture Pearl Harbor."

* * *

"I'll take 'U.S. Presidents' for $800, Alex."

"This former President is evil and has cooties."

"Who is George W. Bush?"

"Correct for $800. We also would have accepted Nixon, Reagan, or Jefferson."

* * *

"I'll take 'People' for $1000, Alex."

"These racist pale-skinned devils are keeping the black man down."

"Who are honkies?"

"Correct for $1000. And remember, all our facts are verified by ACORN."

A little humor to mock leftist delusions.

I loved the show as a kid during the Art Fleming years. Trebeck turned me off, and the game got weird. That mormon guy who mastered the button timing — showed a flaw in the game.

I’ve noticed lately the questions/answers seem easier too.

This is no surprise. Everything else is dumbed down to accomodate the graduates of the government indoctrination centers and the leftist bastions of higher indoctrination. Why should Jeopardy be an exception?

I’ve noticed fewer categories about science and geography and more about rappers and Oscar winners.

Q: GE stockholders.
A: "Are infuriated by outrageous leftist bias?"

Sorry Alex, that's what it SAID on the teleprompter! :o)

These leftist *entertainers* {spit} may not know it, yet.
But they're all in for a very rude shock, and it won't be a game. ;^)

Any Jeopardy thread needs a link to the Jeopardy Archive. It's a huge list of answers and questions along with winners and scores.

They’ve always allowed some liberal-slanted political clues but lately it’s disgusting. Your satire isn’t far from reality. I used to enjoy the show but now watch Greta instead unless the set is off and I’m doing something really productive.

I got to meet Art Fleming a couple of years before he died. A real down to earth guy. Later I got the chance to be on Jeopardy! Alex Trebek not so much.

As for mastering the button timing--that's not a flaw in the game. You have to actually know the answer or getting the timing down doesn't help you much. The returning champion may have an initial advantage in being used to the rhythm. It's a lot easier to shout out the answers from your living room than it is to do it under pressure in the studio. But if you are the type of person who freezes up under this kind of pressure, you aren't likely to even make it past the interview portion of the tryouts no matter how much trivia you know.

I think they actually did ask a baited Sarah Palin question that was very similar to the one I put up there.

Well, the button timing did help the big champ — he knew the answers but so did his opponents many time. I seem to recollect reading some blog at the time that described the button operation and after that I did watch to see the how the master used it to his advantage. True, his trivia knowledge seemed photographic and massive, but the button kept him safe from some strong challengers — so it seemed to me and the blog that mentioned it.
