From the day the founding Fathers risked their liberty and life by signing the Declaration of Independence, there has been those who have wanted to sink this great ship called the United States of America. Well 143 years later the good ship America took a torpedo hit that at the time seemed like just another glancing blow. What many still consider the greatest step forward in equality for the sexes, was more then just a glancing blow however. It was in fact a deadly strike that entered the very heart of the ship and has been smoldering since. The damage caused by the 19th amendment was slow in its destruction, but after almost 100 years we can now see how complete the destruction really was.

I know I posted this yesterday, but a lot of Freepers would have missed if they were not around, so I am re-posting it this time for consideration of those who are now checking out all the Monday morning stories.

Allowing people with no ‘skin in the game’ has the same bad ending wherever it’s tried. Eventually you end up with a huge under class who votes for their freebies.
Even the founders recognized the problem associated with everyone voting.
I say you need show a paycheck with at least $1000 in taxes paid before you get to vote.
So God-given rights are only for white men?
You can’t be serious.
‘I say you need show a paycheck with at least $1000 in taxes paid before you get to vote.’
24th Amendment-
....’shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or OTHER TAX. ‘
No, everyone has God-given human rights such as the right to not be killed or enslaved. However, voting should be a privilege, not a right.
No one has a ‘Federal’ Right to vote in a election, it’s up to your own State what the requirements are.
This is sexist, in the same way that Democrats’ attempts to go after black and Mexican voters is racist. Voters should be treated as individuals, not as demographics for us to disenfranchise just because they break with us on major points of policy. That is what representative democracy is all about. I support the women’s right to vote just as I support the blacks’ right to vote, even if I disagree with the majority of voters in both their demographics.
A privilege for who decided by who based on what? Ridiculous sexist/classist drivel?
Add that the voter and both his parents must be US born........
Go back on or increase your meds. YOu must not be a conservative if you think such nonsense.
That said only landowners or real taxpayers should vote.
> I say you need show a paycheck with at least $1000 in taxes paid before you get to vote.
I say you should get 1 vote for every dollar paid in tax. Irrespective of your sex, citizenship status (tho’ specifically excluding illegal aliens) or how much property you own. Must be a real individual and not a corporate body or a trust, and must be an onshore resident and not overseas. 1 vote for every dollar of tax paid, federal and state.
Yes, perhaps the rich would get more votes, but only if they paid tax. If they’ve got it sheltered in offshore banks, well, no votes for them. Welfare deadbeats, with few or no votes they won’t get to influence the election much. The people who pay the most tax — the middle class — would decide each election, as is only right: they have the most skin in the game.
All voters would be easily identifiable: if they paid tax, the IRS knows about them already, and could even mail them out their ballots. Vote rigging would be nearly impossible. Voter fraud would be a dumb thing to do: the IRS doesn’t have a sense of humor.
No, the majority of women show that they vote with emotion and not thought. The founding fathers knew this and they were right.
There's plenty of blame to go around. Trying to blame women is idiotic.
For some strange reason, I would object to not being able to vote based on gender. However, as much as it sounds nice that there should be an intelligence test prior to voting, some things are inappropriate.
In Heinlein’s book “Starship Troopers”, the concept of the freebies and government dole impact on the people is well isllustrated. Secondly this book brought into focus the concept of earning the right to vote. He was well before his time. Several of the “fictional” scenes seem all too real.
We can't blame people having rights on our failure to properly educate and instill conservative values in them. If certain segments by statistics, generally vote for a more 'nanny' care-taking type of government, that is OUR fault for not spreading Conservatism, that is not Freedom's fault.
