Black bear trees man near Campbell Airstrip

Alaska State Troopers say an Anchorage man was forced to climb a tree to dodge a black bear near Campbell Airstrip.

Charles L. Lamb of Anchorage told officers he was forced up a tree by a large black bear at about 11:30 a.m.

Lamb says the bear stalked them for a half mile as they walked out.

LOL! Lamb is dang lucky he didn’t find out bears can climb a tree about five times as fast as a human the hard way. Maybe he’ll invest in a large caliber handgun now. :)

That’s what happens when you get an infestation of Left-Coast communalist, they tend to clump together in hives and ruin the local environment by electing themselves to office. The strong self reliance and individualism of most of us Alaskans works against us in this arena; moocher drones have an easier time grabbing power because of their hiving instincts.

Full grown black bears, big heavy males, rarely climb. Young males and females climb very well.

You all laugh, but twice I have been stalked by blk bear. They come in like a cat on a rabbit, front quarters down, ears twitterin like crazy, actually independently back and forth. First time I was able to wave & hollar bear off from like 5 foot away and this bear came in 3 times then wandered off in the woods. Second time, I shot the bear along a trail as he came in from 30 yards away. I've never had a grizz stalk me like that.

Everybody outside of Anch & urban ak do carry guns for bear. Campbell creek is right in anch. Wife and I once taught at this Indian Village. The Indians would walk 8 miles to lodge & back every afternoon for their 6-pak. This one Indian had been treed by grizz and always had his 06 with him, got real nervous even talking about bear.

That kinda thing will give you a headache and bad feeling in stomach quick.

When I go salmon fishing I used to carry my .44mag in a bandolier holster, too big to wear comfortably so I now carry a 10mm Glock with hot hunting loads.

In Alaska I could have a rifle strapped to my back in downtown Anchorage and its quite the norm.

I never saw people walking into schools with guns, kids getting on school buses with rifles, and just most the people out and about with sidearms on belt; in Anch that is. Guess, I’ve been out in the sticks too long.
