Jackie Mason: Obama's a "Schwartza"
TMZ ^ | 3-15-09

Posted on 03/15/2009 11:20:59 AM PDT by Justaham

Comedian Jackie Mason used what some say is a racial epithet in describing President Barack Obama during his act Friday night, infuriating at least several people in the crowd.

We spoke with Mason by phone a few minutes ago, and he was outraged at the criticism, saying, "I'm not going to defend myself. Chris Rock has told a lot more jokes about whites than I have against Blacks. What about the demeaning words Blacks say about Jews?"

Ann Coulter has called him brilliant. At his best he’s a great social critic of various aspects of black culture.

Schwartza,as used by Jews, is no more than a slur than the terms used by Italians who called blacks moolies, from mulignane (eggplant) or by the Irish who called them dinges (probably some from Gaelic or Anglo-Irish word). These terms were common in the pre-PC days, and each ethnic group had terms for the others that would now be considered derogatory.

General Schwarzkopf (black head) better not use his own name if he addresses an NAACP convention. He might get a banana thrown at him.

It is no longer tolerable to have words “prohibited”, out of any context to how the word was or is being used. And importantly, “reasonableness” objectively enters into the picture. Just because *a* person vehemently objects to the use of a word in any context, does not mean that the word is inherently unreasonable for use.

I am reminded of a woman with an odd neurological condition. Whenever she would hear the word “sex” she would faint. If someone knew she had this condition and used that word in her presence, they would be, in effect, assaulting her by using that word. However, if they were unaware of her condition, their use of the word was harmless. Thus, the word itself did not matter.

Black people are not inherently unable to control their passions, even when they hear the “N” word. Even then, some might think they cannot, or should not be expected to, but only if they heard the “N” word from a white person. If they heard it from a black person, it would or should not upset them.

Thus it is ridiculous to insist that black people have universal contextual control. Either they can control themselves at all times, or it is *not* the word that is the problem.

If they bitterly object to the use of the word by white people, then they can respond in kind. They are under no obligation, or really, do they have such little self control that they *must* respond with violence, *or* be deeply and extensively emotionally damaged.

To even suggest otherwise is clearly and unambiguously racist. Black people have just as much self-control as white people.

Their best response is to reject those who use not just that word, but “foul” language as a whole. This distinguishes “gentlemanly” people from “lower class” people. And the way it is done is for gentlemanly people to reject association with lower class people.

If someone cannot control their potty mouth in polite society, then they have no place in polite society, and should be asked to return to their proper milieu.

Mason added, “I’m an old Jew. I was raised in a Jewish family where ‘schwartza’ was used. It’s not a demeaning word and I’m not going to defend myself.”
* * * * *

So was I, and it is JUST A WORD. Words, just words.

There are faygalas, meshuganahs, shiksas, and schwartzs, etc.

An old and dear friend of mine is “Schwartz”. The word is not inherently bad- it has a meaning. This is the PC nazis vs the Yiddish speaking (a dying language as it is).

As you correctly point out, the word still has no derogatory connotation. It is a simple Yiddish word directly translated as "black." It is derived directly from the German word "schwartz" with exactly the same simple meaning: the color "black." Anyone with only an elementary understanding of Yiddish and/or German knows this.

Sorry, but the German word for black is schwarz, not schwartz. Anyone with an elementary understanding of German knows this. ;-)

Puh-leeeze! Google is far from a universally recognized authority on linguistic issues. Plus, it is owned and managed by left-leaning folks, so I'm not surprised that they would inject a PC bias into their product.

What it does is list sites - Google is slowly becoming a euphemism for internet searching like Kleenix for tissues ... I use Dog Pile myself which is where I found all the sites defining the word ... there are other search engines too such as Copernic ....

Schwartza . . . little black . . . you know. Tiny. Man who wears woman’s undies. Man who likes feel of silk on his legs and wears pantyhose under his trousers and socks.

Who does that remind you of?

My error. The spelling of the word in German is different by one letter. But the pronunciation is still almost the same (the “z” in German is pronounced like a “tz” in English, and the “w” in German is pronounced like the “v” in English) and the German meaning is simply “black.” The Yiddish word that Jackie Mason was using clearly derives from the German, and has the same straightforward meaning. This business of attaching a derogatory meaning to it is the kind of stuff that race hustlers like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton use to exploit any opportunity they can get to shout “racism.”

There is no doubt that the term “schwartza” is a derogatory term. I am Jewish and Yiddish was commonly used. Perhaps the technical translation is “black person”, but the meaning behind it is most often negative. It certainly goes along with the “N” word. The technical definition of that is used as a disparaging term for a member of any socially, economically, or politically deprived group of people. In our society, we all pretty much know how it's used. It's pitiful that we have to stoop down to a racist level. It's time to rise above all of the negativity. My final point to add is that calling Obama either derogatory name is completely inaccurate. He is biracial....period!

“Native Americans, Jews, the Irish, Africans and virtually every other person on earth has had their ancestors mistreated yet American blacks are the only group who can’t get past it and LIVE to be offended.” ... When you hear Al Sharptoon or Jesse Jackasson or Barry Soetoro or Eric Holder or Congressman Lewis or Maxine Waters or Sheila Jackson Lee whine the race card, think of what children do when they fail to do their chores and let their end of the family maintenance down ... they whine something about ‘what is expected of them is not fair’. The race hustle some blacks are using now is just that level of childish crap. And it pisses responsible black people off more than most will ever know! ... Because whining is replacing taking responsibility for yourself and actually impacts negatively the opportunities competent black people have.

Speaking for black people, we really don’t care what Jackie Mason or anybody else says about us. Stop making us out to be cry babies because Jackson says some things. Another thing is, Jackie Mason took Sharpton out to dinner and is friendly towards the man. Even Sharpton didn’t go crazy over what Mason said.

It’s not whining if racism is an ongoing problem. Another thing, I don’t know any African-Americans who care about being called a schwartza by Jackie Mason. He’s not really on the radar.
