Well I got plenty of canned sardines and lots of bottle water. So I say, I'm pretty much ready for anything.
Actually, I wouldn't mind being shut-up in my home for a year or two due to a catastropic natural event. I've got stacks of books that I never seem to have time to read. Also the yard needs work. A lot of work.

Great if this happens in lower New England everyone left down there is going to come running up here to Maine. Haven’t we had enough problems with Mass folks showing up?

"You can make fun of Pastor Wilkerson(not you, other people on this thread), but even I and quite a few other people feel something terrible is on its way." I'm not going to make fun of Pastor Wilkerson and I certainly don't know his heart, yet I'm always skeptical of people claiming prophecy. My Presbyterian background (first PCUSA now PCA) may have something to do with that since modern day prophecy hasn't been discussed much at the churches I've attended.
What I do know is God is in control. :)

10 years ago the stockmarket was 10-15 K points with the internet boom and then bust came in 1999 leading to W’s election. What Wilkerson says is coming and he is not the only one to say so. When confirmation comes from two or more witnesses, you should be concerned.

Dec. 2012 is coming. I have had a morbid fascination with that date since several ancient societies predict something big to happen then, exactly what is a bit unclear. What will happen is that the Mayan calendar will roll over to the next long cycle. We have plenty of real calamities to worry about, natural and man-made, but an artificial date on a calendar is not one of them. It will make an excellent excuse for a party, though, just as the artificial date of January 1, 2000 made a great excuse. It is 2000 years AD, plus or minus 5 years, and the exact day of the year is unknown. So why December 31 would have any significance, except to note the passage of a period of time since the last year, decade, century, is unclear.

Nothing against Pastor Wilkerson, personally. If it turns out there's a global catastrophe as he predicts, I'll be happy to admit I was wrong.

That is very true and I have been feeling it since the Rats retook Congress. We are starting to have to pay for the blood of the unborn.

Ever read the book of Amos?
This guy was shown how God was going to deal with nations who had chosen to live outside the bounds of righteous living. It is a very sobering read, however, if you put yourself in his shoes, would you not see some similarities between the words he had to share and our own current situation?
Point is this:God usually does speak through someone a warning about what is going to happen and the why behind it.
Are we there yet?

I'm not so sure this can be so easily dismissed. In 1975, Wilkerson wrote a book called The Vision. I remember reading it a couple of times as a teenager. Right now on Amazon it's selling for around $60 and more. I read a couple of reviews of the book, and this one astonished me:
Kooky or Not?, August 28, 1999 By A Customer
I am a big critic of modern day prophets and doomsayers. I found this book lying around my mom's house (world's biggest sucker for so-called prophets)began to read this 1970's book. Mr. Wilkerson apparently was based on a vision from God to him about the future of America. By reading the book you could tell Wilkerson believed his vision would come true no later than the seventies. Here it is 1999 and the US is still here as prosperous as ever, however, some of Wilkerson's predictions are eerily becoming true.
Here are the ones that caught my attention.
1. Pornography will become available inside households through means of technology.
2. Children will become filled with anger and begin doing highly publicized acts of violence and all of the country would be trying to figure out why.
3. Natural diasters will greatly increase in the United States.
Those were the predictions that I thought were frightenly accurate. The vision is filled with many other predictions which have not happened (I suppose Wilkerson would say at least not yet.) He talks about our economic collapse, fires across the country, some 1984ish type of government emerging. So although I would not spend more than a few bucks on this 1970's book, I would recommend you check it out to see what you make of this guy's predictions which seem to becoming true.
Those three prophecies I bolded have come true just recently. I wish I still had the book so I could go back and read it all for myself. Back in 1975 the world was such a different place that there's no way Wilkerson could have just invented it all. Time will tell if his latest prophecy comes true.

Maybe not financial, political or geological......maybe Biological??.....Like in Stephen King's "The Stand"?.....didn't that start in a lab in New England??

but even I and quite a few other people feel something terrible is on its way.Count me in that group. I figure (at least) 1 terrorist action, and 1 economic collapse equal or greater than the Carter days, if not the 1930's.

And you could be right. There’s very little downside to anticipating the worst, as long as you don’t quit your job, sell everything you own, and stand in the park waiting for the Zot. It’s like stocking up for winter storms that don’t happen - you haven’t really lost anything.

This is totally off topic (related, but off topic) but if someone is looking for apocalyptic signs of the end, I saw one not long ago in the form of a YouTube video clip of a very notorious, hard livin', hard drinkin', cursin', Hell-raisin' motorcycle ridin' wild man who came to the Lord Jesus, confessed his sins, and was testifying to the Saving Power of Christ before a church congregation and I have to say it was a moving experience to watch this guy give his testimony, apparently not too long before he died and left this Earth, Heaven bound.
The church?
It was Robert Schuller's Crystal Cathedral, and before the sneers begin, wait for the name of the guy in the video:
None other than Evel Knievel, who I have no doubt is now with the Lord.
Amazing, truly amazing, here's the URL:

Even so, I am reminded of a scripture in Habakkuk 3:2. It really is a prayer, asking God to remember love, pity and mercy in His wrath. We should be praying such words for our nation. Who knows, maybe God will turn from His wrath and let people have another chance to turn to Him again?
To: NotchJohnson
Anyone who claims to receive direct intelligence from God or the Holy Spirit is dead wrong. It is the age-old method of false prophets everywhere. While I can’t cite a specific book, chapter and verse from memory, the Gospel claims for itself that the full truth for all time has been delivered to us. Want to hear from God? — read the Bible.
