I thought I was doing well after putting my USB key drive through the washing machine at the weekend - still works!

The English deliberately pick different words for simple things just to annoy us I swear.
I took the lift to the car park and pub my mobile in the boot.

I can imagine this guy a few months later going into a store for a warranty repair and swearing up and down he never got his phone wet.

I heard on another story that the phone didn't survive, just the SIM card which the person who found the phone put into a working phone.

When I travel, I always pack a zip lock back full of rice...it's a strong natural dessicant and can help dry out sensitive electronics, restoring their functionality. I have used it to successfully bring back to life a cell phone that fell in a tub, a (high $$) digital camera that got stuck in the rain, and a laptop keyboard that I spilled water on. High sugar liquids (i.e. soda, wine, etc.) will probably damage circuitry irreperably, but for just water, melted snow and vapor exposure, packing the item in white rice overnight has saved me lots of heartache and expense.
Not sure how well it works with cod digestive juices.

I kept calling it but I gave up hope after a couple of days. I'll bet that annoyed the cod!

Mmmm, why am I dubious? Why would a cod swallow a phone and how does any cell phone survive days in salt water?

I ruined my daughter’s cell phone by just spilling a small amount of soft drink on it. I also found out that it had a “tell tale” on it that showed the phone company that it had been wet.
