No. This is a state's rights issue.
Use the formula “X is Y because of A,B,C in addition to D” That’s a standard Argument format.
However, I disagree that a pre-determined outcome is acceptable with ANY research paper. Your thesis statement is just that, a statement of your THESIS, the idea you are putting forth for consideration. If, for some reason, your research leads you to conclude that your original thesis is/was incorrect, you are obligated to report just that in the conclusion portion of the research paper.
Heavily quote Mark Steyn’s “America Alone.” Society has a vested interest in the continuation of its values. It therefore bears the cost of educating its children, offering incentives for maintenance of population growth above the simple replacement rate. The benefits of marriage are the incentives, there is little or no societal gain from offering the incentives to the homosexuals, being a negative role model.
i’d reference how the academy blew off mickey rourke’s brilliant performance and gave the oscar to sean penn simply because he played a gay fella...
Traditionally, amendments have been written for the express purpose of limiting the powers of the central government; those that increase it generally become intolerable and unenforceable and get repealed; using this as an indictator of making a persuasive case confines you within the slippery definition of showing demonstrable harm from the act which you seek to prevent.
You need to begin by showing a benefit to the individual states against a rising tide of no demonstrable harm.
This boat won’t float.
What is the due date for your paper?
In your bibliography and/or footnotes, will you be crediting freerepublic.com for 1) doing your research for you, and also 2) as a primary source?
And will your Christian College instructor be comfortable with you asking others do your “research” for you?
I ask, because it is your research paper after all.
Seems odd to ask others to do your research work for you.
Otherwise it isn’t reeeaaally “your” reseach paper after all.
...no?
I’m not even going to reply if I can’t smack ya ‘round for being a troll. Turn page paper... classic.
wait...
An editorial suggestion, use the word RETAIN rather than REGAIN. We have a long ways to go to shore up the foundation but the anchor is not completely severed, despite 50+ years of a culture war, led in part by a assortment of socialists, communists, anarchists, and "psychologists". William Reich, Alfred Kinsey, Bill Ayers (in his book he says he had sex with other members of the Weather Underground, including a man, to smash monogamy).
An eastern european film W.R.: Mysteries of the Organism (1971) linked the sex positive movement with socialism as a good thing in social revolution.
Their goal isn't just for "consenting adults" or "in private". It is about openness and seeing everyone sexually active at every age. They seek to end all moral judgements over sexual pairings regardless of sex, age, relation, marital status, number, or species of partner(s). They see sex as a birthright and the focus of living.
They see organized religion (Christianity in particular) as an enemy of their agenda.
Does your school library have a good collection of online databases? For a topic such as yours, Ebsco Academic Search Premier would probably suffice, as would Reader’s Guide. CQ Researcher and Humanities Index would also be useful. Your topic might also be covered in Opposing Viewpoints, which is available both onlne and in print, or the Information Plus Reference Series, a series of print booklets on hotly-debated political and social topics of the day.
If you’re looking for newspaper articles, Proquest is a good source, as is Lexis Nexis. If you’re looking for perspectives from the left, the Left Index database is available at some academic libraries—but as far as I know, there is no conservative counterpart.
Your reference librarian should be able to help you, and if your school doesn’t have Academic Search Premier, Freepmail me, and and I’ll give you a website where it can be accessed.
Good luck on your paper.
If it is left up to the states, as people move from state to state within our nation, they would proclaim the "confussion" of their home state not honoring their marriage (or divorce).
And as they seek to norm same sex households, they would push for same sex couple adoptions. When does the child consent to be brought up in an alternative lifestyle home?
The goal isn't to see EVERYONE married, it is to smash the institution of marriage and to challenge churches that would not perform same sex marriages (celebrating sin) or recognize the members of homosexuals who are proud of their sins. Should a church permit a known swinger to come to church every week with his kids and wife and mistress(es) and then put in for a membership at that church? Get listed in the directory? With the mistress(es) in the family portrait? "It's my family and who are you to judge?".
Ping.
The national protection of traditional marriage between one man and one woman is hardly a new thing. At least four states were not allowed into the Union by Congress unless and until they would forever foreswear plural marriage. Utah, Idaho, Arizona and Oklahoma, I believe.
The family is our civilization’s most fundamental institution. The Constitution’s crowning purpose, according to the Constitution itself, is “to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”
Without the family there is no Posterity. America dies.
Here’s a list I maintain of people who’ve lost basic freedoms because of the gay lobby. Hope it helps.
