I think the handout stipulates...an increase of $25 in unemployment checks. I thought there was also something about unemployment being tax free...but that may have just been a proposal.

Don’t refuse it! Instead, donate it to your favorite charity: RNC, State GOP, local GOP, Club For Growth or your church.

I admire your stand, but I respectfully disagree. I will take the $13, because I pay taxes. That money does not belong to the government, it rightfully belongs to me. They took it from me. I already support enough leeches, if I give them the $13 back, am I not contributing to those who live off the rest of us? —JM

I grow tired of those who think tax cuts are not enough. I would welcome any tax relief, even if $8 or $13 per wwek.
Where is your outrage that some taxpayers do not qualify for this break because our legislators think some folks make too much money and as a result do not deserve a tax break?

I tried to explain this to a co-worker yesterday. She told me Obama was going to give her a stimulus check. When I explained it would come in the form of lower taxes on her paycheck she told me I didn't have a clue about what I was talking about. Now the trick is who qualifies to pay lower taxes? I told her be of good cheer he upped the pay of welfare recipients by more then double that amount. That is sure to stimulate the economy !! Yaaaayyyyy!

Fer gosh sakes, send the 13 bucks to FR where a forum is provided for you and others to protest the rape and pillage of taxpayers.
FR is read by other than conservatives, including many politicians and influential members of the media. This is how our messages get spread.
Right now, FR is closest to our ideological/political home and that's where we should put any discretionary dollars.

Was there a Federal increase in withholding starting this year.
My wife still works 3 days a week, and her bi weekly check for 6 days work decreased $8.50 due to more federal withholding which she didn’t change.

I went back to Recovery.gov which is now up and followed a link to the pork bill, paged through it and it is terrible - just a bunch of social engineering BS detailing the waste of billions of our dollars. I did a search for the words "tax cut" in the bill and there was no match - can't believe it . I have been searching for the actual parameters of the beneficent 13 bucks a week and can't find out how it is implemented, which rate is reduced, etc. We are no longer a constitutional republic. It had been a long slippery slope begun with the progressive income tax, then FDR, but to have it end so quickly under a Republican president is so shocking, I am still trying to get my head around it.

I can completely identify with the message here - and in fact I never looked for (and don't think I received) GWB's $600 handout last year.
But I have to agree with the majority of respondants here - the thing to do is to put those few dollars into an anti-liberal cause. NRA membership? Donate to Free Republic? etc.
Transient reactions are not useful - long term change is what is needed, and a commitment to conservative principles in both word and deed.

Can someone tell me if this is bogus or real...I got this from my sister...it’s a movie about some people who claim there is no law compelling us to pay federal income tax. I watched and it made me cringe. Can someone verify if this is all true? Or if it bogus. You can see the video here:
