You couldn’t pay me to go to OC. Hellhole.

Having lived most of my life in MD, I would have to concur to stay away from OC MD.

It’s not the family friendly town I once knew from my youth. Unless you like ridiculous prices, overcrowding, a 24-7 “party atmosphere” with the “youts” running wild up and down Coastal Highway at all hours of the day and night, not to mention the infestation of illegal aliens working the Eastern Shore farms and chicken plants who camp out on the beach. OC always had its scummy side but now, based on the last time I was there a few years ago – the whole place is rather scummy. Really a shame.

But I hear the Outer Banks are very nice if you like piece and quiet and just going to the beach. I have a friend from work who with her extended family, rents a house there every year. They rent a big house, 8 to 10 bedrooms but when they split the costs among them, it ends up being very affordable considering that that have their own private pool, sauna, game and entertainment rooms, big gourmet kitchen and are a quick short walk to the beach. I was really surprised how affordable it is down there.

I’ve been to Myrtle Beach but mostly to play golf. North Myrtle Beach is very nice but I found the whole area, even off season, very congested.

I wouldn’t write off the Jersey Shore either. One of my favorite beaches is Stone Harbor. Very quite, clean and family friendly and if you still want some night life, it isn’t all that far a drive to Atlantic City.

Daytona beach was nice 10 years ago, I assume it still is.

Daytona is a sh*thole.

You can go little north of Ocean City, MD and stay in South Bethany Beach Delaware. It is a nice, clean and quiet beach. It is close enough to restaurants, ect, but away fram the crap/ What ever you do, stay out of Ocean City. MD. It is a Sh%t hole.

I second the nomination for Fort Walton Beach/Destin/Sandestin, FL. You won't appreciate terms like "sugar-white sand" and "clear, emerald-green water" until you've experienced it. The Gulf waters are warmer than the Atlantic, in that you don't die of shock from the cold when the first wave hits you on a hot, summer day. I'm from Jacksonville, but I've lived in the FWB area for over a decade.

Recommended eateries:
Buffalo's Reef - Tues and Thurs nights are "Wing-ding" night, all-you-can-eat
Tijuana Flats: Tex-Mex
Another Broken Egg Cafe (Destin): breakfast

Ok. It seemed ok when I went there at Christmastime as a teen.

My family has gone to OBX for the past 20+ years. It is indeed fairly quiet and family friendly.

I’ll have to check out Stone Harbor. ‘Pod.
