One of the most vicious collisions you’ll ever see, posted here because I know most of you watched the game and are wondering how he’s doing. Miraculously, despite “significant” neck pain, he’s “neurogically intact” with movement in all his limbs. No diagnosis yet but presumably it’s whiplash and/or a concussion.
So brutal was this that, after watching the replay, I was hoping he was “merely” paralyzed and not actually dead on the field. Click the image to watch.

I’m sorry, but it’s just not worth it. Especially that we are learning so much more about the permanent and cumulative effect of Traumatic Brain Injuries.
He might seem okay now, but I’ll wager those closest to him will be seeing undeniable effects in the days and weeks to come.
I saw that happen on a kickoff at a high school game when I was a kid.
One of them DIDN’T get up. Paraplegic.
The good thing for McGahee was that he saw it coming. The body tends to deal better with impacts like this when that happens.

I would agree with you on the hit. Not intentional at all. Both are going full steam ahead and in fact McGahee lowered his head at the time of the hit.

I saw the remake. It was beyond bad. The original is a classic and has some great social implications.
In fact, the original movie Rollerball is one of the reasons I have NEVER been a pro sports fan. I see it as a business. Nothing more.
But I love to PLAY sports.
Indeed. As are we all, I'm sure. I got a real sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I realized that McGahee wasn't moving. Then I saw him move his legs and was greatly relieved.
I read one review and have not bothered to see it since. Never will. The original needed no improvement.
I wish I could say the same for "Dune" but that's off topic and a thread for another day.
There’s a rule that needs to be changed. I don’t think the hit was intentional but it positively should have been a personal foul.
The rules evidently allow for helmet to helmet contact for a ball carrier, but if McGahee had been a quarterback that hit would have sent the Steeler to football suspension hell.
Players are too big, strong and fast to allow that sort of hit to continue.
I never thought I’d see my Baltimore Ravens, of all teams, so physically beat up. Those Steelers just play like maniacs on meth, every play.
McGahee is a resilient SOB. I believe that was the guy who shredded both knees in his last game. Total rebuild in both knees, his agent (Drew) convinced someone to use a first round draft choice on him, and he ended up being darned good. His body has remarkable repair ability.
Uff-da. I stopped watching pro ball a couple of years ago, so I’d have missed this otherwise. That’s a hit.
It’s football. It wasn’t intentional, and it looked like both braced just before the impact for the hit as they knew it was going to be harder than expected.
