Near a northwest Boulder home early Tuesday, wildlife officers fired non-lethal bean bags at an adult mountain lion that was feeding on a deer carcass -- adding to the growing list of sightings and animal attacks in the neighborhood in recent weeks.
A woman had her Jack Russell terrier taken by a lion Dec. 24 outside her home ... residents down the road have reported a family of lions drinking at their backyard pond; and Colorado Division of Wildlife officers have fielded several reports of sightings in the neighborhood.
Tuesday, they found two animal carcasses within a few blocks.
"People in the neighborhood are pretty aware," said Larry Rogstad, an area wildlife manager with the Division of Wildlife. "This is prime lion habitat, and it's also prime human habitat."
But Lisa Kaplan, whose dog Stella was killed by a lion Christmas Eve, said the Division of Wildlife isn't doing enough to keep the community safe.
"There is no notification," said Kaplan, who lives a few blocks from Tuesday's lion sighting and didn't know anything about it. "Why don't I know that a lion is eating something three blocks from my house?"
Kaplan said she planned to make her own signs warning of an "actively hunting" lion in the neighborhood, but she changed her mind after meeting with wildlife officers who asked her not to urge more calls.
"Basically they said there's nothing they can do," she said. "They get calls daily in Boulder, and they can't follow up on all of them."

In Boulder, they rather carry your remains in a body bag than allow you to hurt anything ‘wild’ regardless of its intentions.
You see a cat inside city limits when multiple domestic animals have been taken? There are children in the area who are less able to take care of themselves. PC my butt take him out and be done with it.

Jennifer and the DOW should throw away their beanbag guns and use real ones, they’ll discover there is something they can do, being they won’t do it the residents should.
You’re not going to be done with anything, really, though. Coyotes are pervasive throughtout the west. They’re definitely going to be taking pets that are left outside. Mountain lions will do the same thing. Maltese and Shih-tzus are not exactly difficult meals.
I guess it depends on how densely the area is populated. Hunting them to thin the population is generally a good idea. It also reinstalls a fear of man in them, which a bunch of urbanite idiots can’t seem to comprehend. The Californians who moved to Colorado will raise chaos if someone starts shooting coyotes, for instance.

What the animal rights cases in uniform can, but refuse to do, is tell the citizens the truth - that they already have the right to kill any animal threatening their pets, livestock, children, or themselves.
If the Libtards, PETards, ad nauseam in Boulder had read more of American history instead of the socialism impaired drivel from assorted, sordid, members of such GangGreen groups as PETA, Audubon, Sierra Club, they might realize why the Department of Wildlife was lying to they, and deliberately creating a risk to human health and safety.
The DOW refusal to kill sufficient cougar to re-instill the fear of man in America’s cougars, bears, and wolves, (which gunpowder had previously taught to America’s large bodied predators) arguably goes beyond actionable negligence and dives into the pool of unending cess called ‘sociopathy’.
Jennifer and her PETA friends are going to get someone killed.
The elimination of the Spring bear hunting season and the DOW intrusion on legal lion hunting has created a big mess.
It will get even worse soon.
What they need is some alligators! Why don’t they move their crybaby butts back to the big city?
I wonder what will happen if the lion does get a child......will they be able to kill it then?
I think you're right and sadly it'll probably be a kid. They've had this problem in Boulder for too long, the DOW better do something.
Sounds to me that the lions are providing a community service.

I was thinking the same thing. How many kids does a lion have to eat before we rediscover that it’s a predator?
Only if they sedate it, check the stomach contents, and prove that it is the animal that killed a child. All on the taxpayer’s dime of course. If it’s not the guilty one, repeat as necessary.
