Where did this loose for lose thing come from, anyway? I never saw it until I began FReeping. It seems to have originated from idiot day traders on Motley Fool and other boards in the 90's.

I’ve seen three people who work where I do recently misspell lose as “loose.” It must be a fairly common mistake, though I cannot imagine why.

My pronouncement is that it comes from the inconsistency of English pronunciation, as evidenced by choose and chose, as opposed to loose and lose.
