The only hope left for U.S. Border Agents Nacho Ramos and Ignacio Compean is a Presidential pardon. Without it, they are destined to serve out their decade long sentences for attempting to prevent a drug smuggler from illegally crossing our border
Ramos and Compean are Depending on You! Grassfire is urging ALL members of our team to take immediate actionfaxing President Bush, the Office of the Pardon Attorney, your two Senators, and Representative, demanding Ramos and Compean are pardoned and returned to their families. Because we want to keep a sustained effort right through George Bushs final day in office, we will send a second round of faxes, on your behalf, a week after the first!
For convenience citizens can take advantage of our E-Z FaxFire system to deliver your personal faxes for a gift of any amount-- sample letter copy provided below. President Bush has pardoned 171 felons and commuted eight sentences throughout his Presidency. Among this motley crew were drug offenders, tax evaders, embezzlers, and a rapper. Im sending you this urgent letter regarding the pardon of former Border Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. These two dedicated family men were convicted under shadowy circumstances and the testimony of a convicted, illegal alien drug smuggler.
The U.S. Constitution authorizes elected officials to use pardons in instances when our justice system fails. Our justice system has failed these two men, and again Im urging you to take a front line stance in helping to right this tragic wrong.
With less than fifty days left in this term, I urge you to pick up the banner for Ramos and Compean and fight for a Presidential or Congressional Pardon to secure their immediate release.

Have Ramos and Compean’s attorneys actually filed for a pardon yet. Last I heard, they wouldn’t because it would be considered an admission of guilt.
This will be the test of whether I view Bush with mixed feelings when he leaves office or whether I view him with total disgust.
Hold that feeling until we know if they even applied for the pardon.
I know an attorney that wouldn’t file a “commute” because it is an admission of guilt...however, he did file a pardon for an inmate at the USDB based on facts that took place during the trial.

Bush’s actions on Ramos and Compean are what pushed me over the edge with him.
Monica Ramos was on a radio program about a month ago, she said that the paperwork had been filed for pardons.
Of course he should turn it down flat. And for what real reason will he not pardon Ramos & Campeon?
I once heard a former congressman on a talk show saying that Bush was the most stubborn man he had ever known.
There are a few other pardons he could give, too: the Marines unjustly accused , thrown in the brig and persecuted for doing what they were trained to do--for what they took the oath for.
Pardon all these men, Mr Bush. Then you will leave your office with honor.
