Looks like we can possibly thank our meddling media for another possibly bungled investigation, this time over the selling of Barack Obama's Senate seat by Illinois Governor Rod Blagojavich. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune was working with Fitzgerald's office on the investigation but decided to stop doing so in favor of printing the sensational story they were sitting on. This forced the arrest early so that the paper wouldn't blow the whole investigation.
The story everyone thought they knew was that Fitzgerald moved when he did to stop a crime about to be committed. But, the WSJ reports that this isn't the case. Apparently the WSJ found that members of Fitzgerald's team wanted to let things roll for a little while longer so that they could catch the actual selling of the Senate seat with Governor Blagojevich, his facilitators and who ever was going to try to buy the seat all on the tape at once. But, the Chicago Tribune informed the prosecutors that they wouldn't wait any longer to put off publishing their story on the investigation. Once the Trib reported on the investigation, it was over for Fitzgerald and his folks for the investigative phase of the case.
Members of Fitzgeralds team are livid the scheme didnt advance, at least for a little longer, according to some people close to Fitzgeralds office. Why? Because had the plot unfolded, they might have had an opportunity most feds can only dream of: A chance to catch the sale of a Senate seat on tape, including the sellers and the buyers.

Someone, please tell me where the truth lies....
The Trib wanted to catch the seller, which was inevitable.
But they wanted to protect the buyer, maybe Jesse Jr., since that wasn’t a done deal.
That’s our media.
Lisa Madigan ALSO said that HER OFFICE KNEW of the investigation! WHO did SHE TIP OFF???? Obama put up HER NAME for the SENATE seat!! hmmmmmmm.
Could it be the newspaper was protecting B. Hussein Obama? Maybe the investigation would have led to the false messiah.
If it turns out that Fitz’s case is hurt by the early arrest it would be entirely fitting since part of Blago’s extortion was to get the Trib’s editorial board removed. Wouldn’t it be ironic if the case can’t be made because of these same editors.
But, did the prosecutors do themselves (deliberately, because they were getting too close and Fitz wanted to “protect” his contacts in the new administration), or did the press (the Tribune) do it to protect the Obama (and its contacts in the new administration?
The Tribune’s actions are easily explained.
The Obama-loving Tribune (aka ObamaNews) wants to protect its protege (Obama) while at the same time getting Blago, who they dislike. So they held off on the story before the election (when it could have hurt the Messiah’s election chances) and broke the story in December when the investigation got too close to the Messiah and his John the Baptist, Rahm Emanuel.
Gerould Kern...
In the Bible.
The best thing for Obama, JJ, Jr. and the Daley machine would be if the case could NOT be made against Blago. They'd like Blago to resign and disappear from the face of the earth, but don't want him to spill the beans on the dirt on everyone around him.
Careful. You'll upset the forum's Obama apologists.
They aren’t any REAL freepers that are Obama apologists.
Don’t you just hate it when the press reports the news?
Or more likely that Fitz was protecting him...
Yep!
>>Dont you just hate it when the press reports the news?<<
If an investigation was impared by it, yes.
When Geraldo reported where our troops were at by drawing pictures in the sand, live on FoxNews, that was reporting on the news as well, but not a very good idea.

Isn’t Sam Zell, owner of the Tribune Co., a big time Democrat donor?
Somehow I don’t think the truth lies anywhere close to the State of Illinois.
Blago was trying to sell the seat. The Tribune knew about it. It blabbed and threatened to publish the story in a political move, it forced the prosecutor’s hand before he had the full case established. Typical Chicago machine thuggery politics. With any luck this will be the last straw to bring down the Tribune. Crime and corruption doesn’t pay, even in Chicago.
