If there ever was a time for lobbying, for indignation, for rage against the machine, this was it.
Having put together a sterling closing argument at the expense of conference rival Fresno State for why they deserved a spot in the Bowl Championship Series cartel, Boise State's players and coaches reserved judgment.
Forget fire and brimstone, the Broncos apparently believe the meek shall inherit the Earth.
"If I thought it would do one bit of good, I'd probably say something," Boise State coach Chris Petersen said.
Instead, he said nothing. Boise State's 12-0 record, he insists, will have to speak for itself.
The fans chanted "BCS, BCS" in the final moments and brought signs declaring "Bull Crap Series" and "All I Want For X-Mas Is A BCS Game."

Utah put the kibosh on Boise St.’s BCS hopes when they beat BYU and went undefeated.
Sorry Broncs.
Boise State had a very good year but they play in a weak conference. They need to either move to another conference (Big 12) or schedule some bigger name schools on their non-conference schedule. That said the Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma was one of the best 2 or 3 football games I have ever seen.
I wonder how long it will take for the Cotton Bowl to be invited to join the BCS? They will be moving to the Dallas Cowboys’ new billion dollar retractable roof stadium that can be configured to hold 100,000 fans for the 2010 Cotton Bowl. When that happens there would be two more at large slots for the BCS.
Ohio State will back into the National Cahmpionship picture. Go Bucks!
None of the big conferences seem to be looking to add teams though. I will say the Big 12 would be well served to shed a couple of dogs, but I doubt they will.
Never happen. One of the 2 spots is already taken by either Florida or ‘Bama. Ohio State is behind, among others, Penn State, for a shot.
sry, please play someone
Swap Baylor for Boise State
So which north division school gets moved to the south division? Missouri?
Yes that would work out nicely.
This is heresy.Everyone knows that the eastern team Penn State does not really even belong in the all powerful Big Ten and all those teams in the SEC and Pac 10 are lucky because the Big ten keeps beating up each other week after week.
I have to disagree with you. With no less than the next President of the United States wanting a playoff the last thing the BCS commissioners want is a Congressional investigation on why every NCAA-sanctioned college sport except Division I FBS football has a true playoff system. Because ESPN will take over broadcasting the BCS bowls after the 2010 season you will see the change, since a real eight-team tournament will finally end most of the arguments (think about it--do you REALLY think anyone lower than BCS #8 ranking at the end of the regular season is championship worthy?) and could be a MASSIVE moneymaker for ESPN.
They could, but they won’t.
They better hope they don’t have to play an SEC team!
I can only imagine that they have a complex by now.
