Order was simultaneously restored and destroyed here Saturday night.
Standard protocol in the Big 12 is this: Oklahoma owns teams like Texas Tech when they come to Owen Field. The challenge to that tradition was established when the undefeated, nouveau riche Red Raiders came to town ranked higher (2nd) than the once-beaten, old-money home team (fifth). The challenge was eliminated in an old-school, name-the-score massacre of a Red Raiders team that reverted to classic form -- too soft up front, and too intimidated to win a huge showdown on the road. And this shocking 65-21 beatdown gives "Big Game" Bob Stoops his nickname back

I won a bottle of Ardmore Scotch and a bottle of 18-yo Chivas on that game!

As a Penn State fan I guess I can take some solace in seeing the Hawkeyes, in their Steeler uniforms, opening up a can-o-whoop on someone. But I sure wish the Nittany Lions had done their jobs that day.

Iowa was lucky winning that game by a point, for sure. Hayden Fry adopted the Steelers look when he arrived and turned a nothing team into a contender.
But as an LSU pal said a few years ago, the difference was, the Tigers played 59 minutes of football and the Hawks played 60.

What mess? Cal throttled Stanford then Oklahoma dismantled Texas Tech. It was beautiful. On the whole a wonderful Saturday.
Let’s just hope Mr. Stoops doesn’t continue the tradition of blowing big games...

I feel the same way but Iowa wanted it more. A championship caliber defense does not give up 2 scores with the possibility of a national championship on the line. It is still a great year though.

You got that right.
The Sooners either win big or lose big! :)

Iowa played Penn State every year back before the Lions were part of the Big Ten. This was in the era of coach Ray (worthless) Nagel. Iowa lost every time.

Stoops is a Hayden Fry understudy. Hayden took the Hawks to three Rose Bowls after impressive seasons and lost every one of those bowl games.

I’m wondering about Boise State. It seems that their No. 9 ranking (which could possibly move up with 2 more weeks of games and conference championships to go) would be in for an automatic BCS bid, by virtue of their ranking. Is there a “one non-BCS conference team max” rule in the BCS (Utah being the other team)?

Stoops needs to unlearn the lessons of his master.
Well, at least in regard to bowl-game performance.

My wife's birthday celebration is always spent at Dallas Fair park. We always hold it on Texas/OU weekend so that the stadium is full and the arcades and shows are easy to get into. I always enjoy teasing the OU fans. As a transplanted Joiseyite but Texas wannabe I support my adopted state.
Whenever I can I suggest that the OU games should be given to Texas regardless of the score since the True Texans are playing against Illegal Aliens! Not only are they illegal but they brag about it by their nickname which attests to the fact!
Boomer Sooners!

There was some talk that ND would play Iowa in a bowl. Guess that’s out the window...
