Cuba Discovers Oil While Democrats Block Drilling
Copious Dissent ^ | 10/21/08 | Devil's Advocate

If the McCain camp had any sense, they would make this a main issue of the campaign: If Cuba can become energy independent overnight by drilling, why can't we? Let us drill our way out of this mess.

I am NOT for Cuba, their government or Castro but if they are smart enough to drill, baby drill and get the oil they need then more power to them. If the Democrats are dumb enough to keep blocking us from getting this oil then the people that keep voting them in are dumb, too. Finally, I hope, the American people will wake up and see the BIG PICTURE of what is really happening. The more Cuba drills off our shores near the Keys maybe more people will wake from their slumber.

“..Cuba just found 20 billion barrels of oil off its shores in the Gulf of Mexico..”

How far “off its shores”, and did they do any horizontal drilling? If so, they may be stealing our oil.

Did the dems perhaps sign some secret agreement with Cuba to allow them to deplete our formation?

Notice that offshore drilling wont be available for at least ten years if we start now. However, we can't start now due to every single drilling ship is spoken for for the next five years and every ship under construction or awaiting construction is spoken for for the same five years.

If the present bill passes, Bush promises to veto it. The oil companies have only explored 19% of the available lease areas they currently are allowed to drill in.

Not a rant, just a reality check.

Everyone gets all uptight about offshore drilling. No one is looking at the Bakken field in the Dakotas and Montana that has more oil than all the middle east. Add into that the Colorado and Wyoming oil shale and that in Alberta and off shore doesnt even count.

Agreed, but we have to get of oil. I see no sense in financing our enemies.

And while we’re at it, let’s bump off the Cuban government and drill there too.

What a great graphic; did it come from an EIA report? Do you have a link to the original?

The oil companies have only explored 19% of the available lease areas they currently are allowed to drill in.

That is a rather silly statistic since it includes all the areas that do NOT have oil.
