TRACY A 19-year-old man told police that he was shot early Sunday while trying to steal pumpkins from a field in rural Tracy, San Joaquin County Sheriff's deputies said.
The man told deputies that he was at a pumpkin patch in the 16800 block of South Tracy Boulevard with two other people when they entered the field about 1 a.m. to steal pumpkins, Deputy Les Garcia said.
They apparently heard gunshots, and all three returned to their car, a black Lincoln Navigator. As they were driving away, four shots were fired at the vehicle, striking the 19-year-old in the back, Garcia said.
The victim was driven home and taken to the hospital by his mother, according to police. The wound was not life threatening, Garcia said.
Garcia added that no suspects have been identified.

They can afford to drive a Lincoln Navigator but can’t afford to buy pumpkins ?
I bet he wont be stealing pumpkins from that field again.
Wanna bet they were going to smash the stolen pumpkin through some car windshield?
>>>The victim was driven home and taken to the hospital by his mother, according to police.<<<
Shouldn’t this read, “The perpetrator was arrested on charges of trespassing and attempted larceny and taken to the county jail pending a bail hearing?”
How is a thief the “victim”?
The title makes it sounds like the pumpkins were stealing and someone shot them.
Driving a Lincoln Navigator but stealing pumpkins?
Maybe they were going to trade the stolen pumpkins for gasoline.
This sounds like a college prank. People who drive Lincoln Navigators don’t need to steal pumpkins to feed their hungry children. I hope he learned his lesson.
Having said that, once the crime has been stopped, to shoot at a fleeing perp crosses the line to vigilante justice.
Sounds like a thug, poor fella couldn’t afford an Escalade...
It was probably a stolen automobile.
The "suspect" got what he deserved.
I'm wondering what the shooter was packing - shotgun loaded with rock salt, maybe?
Or maybe the kid was just plain lucky. Either way, bet he doesn't try to steal punkins from around there anymore.
I think there should be a government agency for low income lincoln and escalade owners that cant afford the quanter things in life such as pumpkins. Im sure Pelosi and Reid would only need several billion dollars to make this happen. Stealing pumpkins in a navigator, kinda like spendin 5K on rims for that 84 tempo.
¿ Why wont they give us the thief’s name ?
Under the impending socialist regime, everyone will be given equal access to pumpkins. They will no longer need to be stolen or protected by evil firearms.
Did someone say “Pump Gun”?
And I suppose your family bought their Halloween pumpkin ;o).
I suspect that a couple of generations ago or so these boys' kin were living in a camp somewhere in the Central Valley. Even when affluence accrues to certain families their traditional values sometimes remain.
