It’s a damn shame that one has to go to the concert-hall to hear his E minor Mass.
The Kyrie from that is enough to make even Pilate repent...
Thanks for the ping! I enjoy Bruckner a lot.
In the last 3 symphonies, Bruckner used Wagnerian tübinhorns to give the brass a darker color.
The Eighth has some amazing passages. In the scherzo, he creates the effect of cascading church bells without using bells in the score at all. And in the slow movement, there is a passage that is the best depiction of the night sky I've ever heard.
Please accept my apology. I used an older ping list. Hope you enjoy.
I’m glad you all enjoy. I hope many more do as well.
I wondered recently what happened to that Sunday Concert...Thanks and keep it coming!
Hoosier, Bruckner is not my all time favorite, despite being a Wagner devotee. But I did spend the weekend at Rabbit Hash, Ky gazing across to the Indiana shore and Belterra’s riverboat at Rising Sun. Would this get me on your ping list
Done. (Without me even asking the origin of the town of "Rabbit Hash.")
I'm glad you enjoy. Welcome aboard! : )
