I apologize for the vanity, but my wife just went out to get some clothes for our oldest... and apparently there is a run on gas tonight. We live in Murfreesboro, TN and she passed about 8 service stations that were out of gas before finding one that was stocked. Of course, it was $3.89/gal.
I guess Ike has people freaking out. It looks like a really bad situation there for Texas. Hopefully trucks will run tomorrow to replenish the supply that's all but gone tonight.
On another note, I was watching a show on the science channel the other night that showed a town in Texas that refines an unGodly amount of gasoline... what town was that and is it in the path of the storm??
Filled up for $3.50 a gallon in Richmond, VA this PM - absolutely no lines. One woman at work was freaking out, but she’s a fruitcake anyway and no one took her seriously. I do expect some price increase shortly, though.
Same here in South Alabama.Gas Stations are running out of gas.Paid $3.90 today.
ROLL TIDE
Same kind of think happening in Virginia. I heard, only heard, didn’t see, that gas was $5 a gallon at Sheets. Can anyone confirm that?
I hope this link helps.

They started rationing gas in Asheville NC—10 gallons at a time. However, I exceeded the 10 without a problem.
Same here in Greensboro. Lines at gas stations out in the street blocking traffic. Gas prices went up $.60 between 11z00 a.m. and noon.
I don’t understand!
No, no whining here... heck I have a gas guzzler and have spent up to 3.99/gal before. It usually stays parked here lately though. Just weird to me to actually see a run on gas like this.
Guess I need to make sure to check the tire pressures tomorrow to make sure I get my optimal mileage in my 1996 Grand Prix with 200k+ miles. :)
gas here in so west virginia jumped from 3.69 to 3.90 over a 3 hour period.
Thanks for the link. Very informative.
Gas here in Missouri was still $3.44. But there were lines locally and I decided to top off. No doubt there will be a supply disruption and prices will spike. When our national mindset in Washington Dunce Cap is to put all of our energy resources in one basket, these kinds of government created problems will only get worse with every subsuquent storm.
I don’t know what town you were referring to. But the Houston ship channel has something like 25% of the national refining capacity. Refining towns like Baytown and Missouri city, Tx, Pasadena.......and yes they are smack in the middle. Another notable locations for refining are Port Arthur, TX. My step son works there. And yes, they are shut down and evacuated.
No lines in Florida this morning - but with storm damage, that might not hold.
Our gas went from 3.59 yesterday to 4.29 this pm.
The problem in Knoxville rattled drivers here. This is part of the problem.

Thanks for the info... I really thought it was Baytown, but I wasn’t 100% sure.
I paid $3.95 in Bethesda, MD last week.
Pretty much the same in Raleigh, NC. I’m no tree hugging eco-freak but I filled up my 41 mpg Corolla (I’m a plain vanilla cheapskate), on Monday and I still have 7/8 of a tank left. The gas panic will be over soon.
