Cannabis linked to earlier psychosis onset
Reuters ^ | September 10, 2008 | Unknown

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Researchers from Spain have found a strong and independent link between cannabis use and the onset of psychosis at a younger age. The association, they say, cannot be explained by chance, and is not related to gender or the use of other drugs. It is, however, related to the amount of cannabis used.

I'm willing to wager that the rabid Emocrats (Move. On, etc.) people have been heavy cannabis users since their early teen years. Why else would they display such psychotic behavior when their Messiah is uncloaked?

Maybe mary jane is not the harmless drug the drug propagandists say it is.

If one reads pro narcotic websites such as Libertarian Reason Magazine and witnesses the lack of coherent reasoning in their comments section, one knows that cannibis can certainly lead to psychosis.

This can’t be true. I have read on this site that canabis is a miracle cure for everything.

A friend of mine is a counselor for people with serious anxiety disorders and panic attacks.

A very large percentage of them admit to being pot smokers.
[past or present]

That doesn't sound much like coincidence to me.

Kinda akin to the “hockey stick graph” which connects CO2 and air temp... it is possible to have the correlation be true, but the causation be reverse of what the “experts” predict.

Most of the heavy pot users I’ve met started very early with tobacco and alcohol. Before that, you can almost predict who’s gonna be a user. It is my contention... and the contention of any number of substance abuse professionals... that people with psychological issues self-medicate with these substances.

In other words (Clift notes alert!) it is possible that early onset of psychological difficulties is connected to pot smoking due to people self medicating, as opposed to pot smoking causing the difficulties.

When I quit, I stopped thinking they were all out to get me. So I think there is something to it. But Obama is starting to make me paranoid again!!

“Duck and cover! You went and stepped in it.”

I’m just saying what my learned friends who treat substance abuse are telling me.

You’ll also note that a large number of adults on various “psychological” drugs use a variety of illegal drugs too, which of course doesn’t help anything.

The whole subject of substance abuse, addiction, etc is a lot more complex than people who just are too stupid / weak / immoral to know when to stop, ya know? Anyone who’s known an addict pretty much knows that already.

That is a problem with epidemiological studies is they can show associations but not causality, which puts you back to the chicken egg scenario.

Thank you.

At any rate, I’ve personally seen people with mental health issues (stoned or sober) head straight to their bong when things got difficult for them. In one case, the doctor straight-out said that they were “self medicating”.

Imagine that. Placing a large amount of toxins in your body causes damage. I am amazed.

I’m completely “non-chemically altered” and 0 makes *me* paranoid...LOL

[though it’s not “paranoia” if somebody really *is* out to get us all]...;]

Or....

do people with emotional problems gravitate to pot?

FYI - I've not been a pot smoker, but I inhaled plenty at concerts. :)

I have no problem with what you said. Don't know about lately, but it used to be that if you said anything other than 'marijuana is the devil!', you would be called a druggie and worthless human scum, on marijuana threads.

My Husband has been sober for going on 8 years (Dec 20). Our girls and I participated, when appropriate, when he was in treatment. He and I went on to speak at the same treatment center monthly for about two years, on AlAnon and the importance of family involvement and communication in the recovery process.

Anyway... what you've learned from your learned friends makes sense to me..just didn't think it would go over very well with some folks here.

“do people with emotional problems gravitate to pot?”

According to those who do drug and alcohol counseling... yes.
