This is one of the first installments from Free Republic's Gun Club. It's going to be a daily discussion on subjects covering firearms, Gun Rights and overall firearms experiences.
Some years ago, Friday seemed to be the time to post photos of our favorite toys. I volunteered to make it a weekly occurance.
One of the things I did learn through the years, though. It's not the gun. It's just a tool in the hands of the person who makes it happen. That rusty and pitted .38 revolver may not look like much but to the owner, it may have helped in getting out of a lot of scrapes. Also, that match pistol may look good but it might have been instrumental in losing more matches than the one half it's price and bone stock.
So let's see 'em. The pretty ones, the ugly ones and the dusty ones including the old favorite grampa gave us when he passed on.
I'll loan you my left one but I want it back....... :)
I don’t know if these are still current, but here is the “ping list thread” from last year.

I'm still working on this one. It was going to be my IDPA competition pistol but so far, it's in pieces. I sent it back to the factory because the sights were so far off. 18 inches high at 60 yards. They did a nice job in replacing the rear sight and it's dead on.
Last week it had about 300 rounds through it but a sharp corner on the grip safety caused my hand to "not be happy". I can't get the thumb safeties off to correct that. Gloves?
Then the new grips came in yesterday and I was so happy but they don't fit. I just placed them there for the photo. Taurus redesigned the screws so I have to either cut the screws down or cut the grips. Not sure.
Situation normal. I go through this every time I buy any gun. It has to be "mine" so I change stuff.
Last thing. The grips are from a website called "Monkey Grips". Go figure.
Join the fun.
Would you settle for a finger? ;-P
Trigger finger, of course!

One for “business” the other for “fun.” The wheel gun is my workhorse .357 Ruger GP100. I’ve used it for nearly 20 years now, and it’s still going strong. The Henry .22 rifle is a nifty little plinker. Plenty good cheap fun with a brick of .22 ammo.
I have a PT1911, and have put about 1500 rounds through it with no problems. I love it.
You should start a ping list.
I don’t own any 1911’s but I am looking at buying one of those made by Taurus. I have read nothing but great reviews.
I’d like to ditto another poster, a ping list would be nice. I’d like to be on it.
Please add me to the ping list. ‘k.thx.
Ping.
Meanwhile, I got this for seventy five bucks a couple of weeks ago.
It shoots.
Commie rifles are fun. :)
I used to work in Ramsey Outdoor in Ramsey. Dick Maretzo lived in the next town and was a customer. Great guy and a very enthusiastic chooter.
