I'm in my 30s and still look young. Am I supposed to be ashamed that someday I might be lucky enough to hit 50?

I'm looking at the pic of Madonna. She looks a little older than her publicity shots. She's obviously working out like crazy. Am I supposed to laugh at the fact that she looks older without makeup?

Seriously. What a youth obsessed culture we have. So what if she looks older? Is looking 20 the ideal? 30? At what age should I commit suicide in order to prevent a "wow, he looks old" thread from being posted about me?

No thanks. I think I will take as many years as I'm given and look as old as I'm permitted to.

She looks anorexic. Amy Winehouse is half her age and looks the same.

What makes her a joke is that she’s trying oh so hard to pass herself off as much younger and it isn’t working. Duets with Justin Timberlake? Hanging out with A-Rod?

I think it’s the fact that she looks like she’s been botoxed within an inch of her life. Rather than embracing her age (think that picture of Helen Mirren in the red bikini) she’s running from it, and as a result looks worse than ever.

Great post! I’m no fan of Madonna’s, but aging happens to all of us...if we’re lucky. I guess according to some Freepers, if a 50-year-old dares to look their age, they should just crawl into a hole and never show themselves in public.

No, what’s horrifying is that she has obviously had implants inserted into her face and collagen injected into her upper lip, and is meanwhile starving herself down to cadaverous levels in order to look 30. Better to just look 50.

Nothing wrong with getting old. In fact, I look forward to it. Each day is a gift and there is no promise of a tomorrow. Be grateful for what you have and dwell not upon that which you lack. Each day is a gift. Gratitude is the road of happiness as ingratitude is the road of the unhappy.

Madonna influenced a generation in denial that unrestrained hedonism would take its toll. She looks older than she should at her age.

Agree with you about our youth obsessed culture. No wisdom to be gained from old folks. Throw them under the Obama Bus.

You hit the nail on the head. She’s an older woman who isn’t posing or wearing makeup. She works out because it’s part of her job to stay extremely fit. We’re so “trained” to judge a woman’s appearance.

Nobody’s joking about the fact that she doesn’t look like a teenybopper anymore, we’re joking about the fact that she’s supposed to be a huge sex symbol and she looks like a train wreck.

BTW, not that I care, but it’s not just “without makeup.” In her most recent video she looks about 25, because they used a digital “airbrushing” process on her, so it wouldn’t look like Justin Timberlake was macking up on his granny.

I don't think it's so much about the ravages of age as the ravages of too much plastic surgery. The face has unnatural contours and the lips look full of silicone. Michael Jackson.

Looks to me as if she's had masses of it attempted on her body, which would explain the bizarre appearance of her upper arms. No workout would cause that. Someone's been applying the lipo-trocar to the jiggle that nature gives us. Even a top-notch workout routine cannot combat the deterioration of skin tone, and it's skin that holds in the jiggles. I read where Madonna and others were exploring "knee lifts" because all that exercize could prevent skin sagging around the joint.

The other thing people are reacting to is the perpetual sex goddess image she tries to sell. And more comes from her general whorishness.
