Help with Chavez sign
Phone booth | unk. | unk.

Posted on 07/23/2008 8:27:54 PM PDT by Rembrandt

On a trip to Caracas, I saw a graffiti comment written on a phone kiosk but can't get the translation.

It was: "Chavez Farzanet (or maybe farzanct) Comunista"

A friend from Venezuela couldn't translate the second word while the rest is obvious.

Can anyone help?

I get the probable contextual meaning, I'm looking for someone who can actually do the translation.

Sorry for the late reply. I was not ignoring you.

The closest I came was “farsesco” which means farcical, but that is not the word you are look for.

I will check in with my Uruguayan neighbor who is an official translator. Maybe there is something similar down in that part of the world.

Nothing matches here in Panama. I also ran it by a dictionary. Nothing. It could be a local saying, one we do not have here.

I will be getting back to you later.

Now that I have had a little time to think about it and am totally awake, the word you mean is “farsante” meaning “phoney/fraud.”

My best regards.
