She does raise a valid point about the lack of hours. There are a lot of places that will hire people, promising 30-40 hrs. a week, but will only give 15-25. They expect you to be availible whenever they want you, but have you work a floating schedule.

It sucks working for minimum wage under such conditions. I've done it.

You get the hours if you don’t suck, but most of the time you try to keep them from full time. Virginia is one of those states where you don’t have a right to work and a guarantee so to speak. One could be hired and fired at will for the most part but exposure to unemployment must always be kept in check. You don’t reward the rotten whiny workers with more hours. Cut it back so they quit and bother someone else.

What a maroon! Unfortunately, this article comes at a bad time for me. Last night I was going through some old boxes and I stumbled across my old college papers. I had written most of them 20 years ago. Holy smokes, I wish I had tossed them! Memory alone reminded me I was somewhat of an idiot. Reading through those papers confirmed I was an idiot - but not "somewhat" of an idiot, I was a complete and utter idiot!

As a result, I hold out some hope for the young man that penned this article. Perhaps he will stumble across "Atlas Shrugged" in the next few years, before his brain arteries harden.
