I was in a major park Tokyo in the early 80’s. There was a good size stand alone building that housed the men’s and women’s toilets and everyone (both sexes, adults and children) entered and exited this one big doorway. Right on the inside of the door we were in a huge men’s bathroom (there was no ante-room) with at least 20 urinals on each side and all these men lined up on both sides relieving themselves. The females had to walk straight ahead between the urinals to get to their facilities in another room in back of the building. Weird. It’s efficient but its a different world.

We are really hung-up about a lot of things in this country. I’ve been to many places outside the country where they have female restroom attendants. In this country, if you went into a restroom while a female was cleaning it, you’d probably get sued and have your name on a pervert list.
