We Left Our Youth on the Beach

A World War II veteran, closer now to 90 years than 80, told me he once had a dream that he died and was reunited with his fellow soldiers who had perished between Normandy and the Ardennes.

They were all as he remembered them, young men. He, however, in the dream appeared as he does today -- well advanced in years. They didn't know him at first, he being now decades their senior. It disturbed him to see himself that way, and to be seen by them an old man.

This is a serious piece by Scott Ott for Memorial Day. I think it is well worth a click (hit) in order to read to its conclusion. I just ran across it and it did not appear to have been posted already.

It is a good piece. What's sad is that so many people today - not just are elected leaders but a majority of our citizens - have forgotten and don't know how to confront evil. I read many years ago that when Hitler attempted the Beer Hall Putcsh of 1923, the maximum punishment for his crime was the death penalty. Yet, he only got a few years and then released. Right there were two moments to be rid of him. Another was in the 30's, when we knew he was violating the Versailes treaty. He should have been crushed then.

Today, we see the same thing happening in different places. Iran, North Korea, etc. And we utilize half measure or act without conviction or will toward these dangerous countries. And the irony of it all is that Hilter unleashed a war so devastating that we - the free counties of the world - are reluctant to rev up to that type of fighting. And slowly we bleed to death.

Yes, and I’m grateful for their sacrifice. But it’s tempered by the reality: Those who came back did not just create “enduring institutions”— they raised a Spock-fed generation of selfish twits who have harmed and are still harming this country in fundemental ways. Simply stated, they were bad parents, and we are still suffering the effects of their negligence.

Simply stated, they were bad parents

That's unfair.

The young men who fought in WWII were children raised in Roosevelt's pseudosocialist America.

It was the parents of the WWII generation who bought into the whole Populist/Progressive movement and who created the New Deal. LBJ and his fellow architects of the Great Society were a generation older than the WWII vets. LBJ and his fake Silver Star.

Can you imagine the joy of these men being reunited in heaven? It will be joy beyond words.

Since I am one of the old guys of which you speak, let me fire a shot or two for discussion. First of all, naturally we have to find someone to blame for this mess we are in. And blaming “their parents” is always a good start by the well educated segment. Second: perhaps not doing a “Normandy” on the Liberal Movement in our country was the biggest mistake us old guys made. Maybe we didn't recognize the danger.

I think there's an argument to be made that the war distracted us from recognizing the danger of the New Deal. We should have stopped it. Instead, we embraced it and now we're faced with a federal government that has no practical limitations on it's authority.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

We should start by calling them what they are: Marxists!

A liberal is never satisfied. Never. He always demands more and more socialism. Why? Because Marxism is the nuclear fuel rod driving him. Marxism is behind everything he says and does, even if he is unaware of it.

By the way, our government schools, colleges, and universities have been thoroughly infiltrated with Marxists. They run the show. Their graduates are now parents themselves and simply do not remember what a good education means. We are quickly moving to a citizenry that simply does not know what freedom is.

Marxism is our nation’s **most** serious threat. Schools are their more important weapon. They are succeeding in indoctrinating the next generation of voters, and freedom will be lost in the voting booth.
