When I was in the fourth grade in VA a skunk got into the schoolhouse. After being chased around for a while, he finally let loose and stunk up the place.
I'm sure glad we weren't locked down. Cooler heads prevailed and we were sent home instead :)

Given that this raccoon went and bit somebody in broad daylight in an area bustling with people, there’s a very good chance it was rabid. Healthy raccoons are nocturnal and timid.
