Have sent my e-mail address. Thank you for the alert. I’m not surprised about the Chinese funding. Stone is so obsessed with conspiracies that he’s decided to participate in one.
The movie comes out in October.
An AOL news posting Hollywood Too Conservative for Stone by Brandon Barker, dated May 8th 2008 10:14AM, states:
... we now know that Stone has had a hard time getting big-time actors to sign-on to play the Bush Administration's heavy hitters (Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld).''You'd be amazed how many male stars of a certain age in Hollywood are Republicans,'' says Bill Block, CEO of QED, one of the producers for 'W'. ''I'm not going to name names, but a lot of them just didn't want to have anything to do with it.''
Some paragraphs from this story:
Reactions to the script were mixed. Specific scenes are largely based in fact but they noted the screenplay contains inaccurate and over-the-top caricatures of Bush and his inner circle."It leaves you with the impression that the White House is run as a fraternity house with no reverence for hierarchy, the office itself or for the implications of policy," said Robert Draper, author of Dead Certain: The Presidency of George Bush.
"Everybody calling everybody else nicknames and chatting about whether to go to war as if they were chatting about how to bet on a football game misses the mark of how many White Houses, including this one, are run."
Jacob Weisberg, author of The Bush Tragedy, was sceptical about Stone's claim that he wants to make "a fair, true portrait" of Bush. "His saying he is going to be fair to Bush is like Donald Trump saying he's going to be modest."
At what point does Bush get blamed in the movie for global warming...on Mars?
Is this supposed to be a comedy?! WTF?! I’ve used better scripts as TP!
If anything in the movie turns out to be true I’m not voting for Bush again.
Nobody seems to care because nobody watches Oliver Stone’s crappy movies anymore.
Yawn.
This movie will tank.
Let the babies have their bottle.
Fax is offshore to website. Flood the world with copies.
Just like no one is interested in seeing Hollywood's take on the Iraq War (all of those movies bombed big time) no one will want to see a commie's hit piece on Dubya, other than those committed lefties mentioned above.
I think the time is long past when people would have been interested in a movie about George W. For a while, people loved him, or hated him. Now people just wants him to go away so they don’t have to think about him at all.
It’ll make less money than Speed Racer at the box office, but it will win every award Hollywood has to offer.
