Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Mrsnad - tell G’nad we are all offering up a prayer for him, you and your family. OB and LSA
Oh, 2J, we sure hope the tests can be scheduled soon and they tell you and the doctor what you need to know. That is quite a list of astericks you have there.
Those are great, I like numbers 2 and 4 the best. I’ll be using those if you don’t mind.
Yeah, it was a small-win-vs-total-defeat, so I'll take the small win. And thank George W. Bush for his two Supreme Court appointments. The RATs will spend the next couple of years coming up new wrinkles to try out at lower levels. I think the "militia weapon" vs "non-militia" will be one of them.
Perhaps the scariest thing I've heard from the dissenters (it takes a strong stomach, and I can't handle it all at once) was Stevens saying "I can't see how the Framers would allow the Constitution to trump 'policy' [government decrees]". Bastard!, that's why the Constitution exists. If he can't figure that out, he should turn in his black robe, and be removed from the federal payroll. That's even scarier than trying to ban high-cap mags "for the childrun".
My appearance here for the next 24 hours will be a bit irregular. I've been without power for over 24 hours now, although "they" say it will be only a few more hours. But I'm running my laptop off an inverter plugged into my 12 volt battery jumper. It's one thing to crank over an engine, another to keep a laptop online for any length of time.
Use away. I stole ‘em myself.
Thanks, much oblidged. Enjoy the beach.
You gots freepmail.
Well phrased Win-mag; small win vs total defeat. Like you, I’ll take it. And as usual, the anti-crowd won’t give it up with more lawsuits. One city at a time.
I wanted to get that printer back in operation because Joseph will need to print out at least one picture for each of the artists he studied in Art History. We went to a local Japanese/Chinese restaurant, and saw a noren, which is a fabric doorway to hang inside the door frame. It was decorated with the Hokusai painting "The Great Wave off Kanagawa", and Joseph recognized it! His Art History book didn't have any Asian artists, so I used another Art History book, and added a couple of chapters on Japanese and Chinese art. I was thrilled that he recognized the piece, but he couldn't remember the artist's name. I couldn't either, for that matter. ;o)
Gracias...
Hmmm... Though, I’m a bit more optimistic. I see this as a fairly significant win.
Scalia’s opinion tightly nailed down a few key variables. The individual right of course, but he also micely marries the “keep” (own) concept and the “bear” (carry) concept in defining the essence of the right to self-preservation. While the Heller suit was specifically about his desire to have a gun at home, the opinion went further than the findings to the right to defend yourself not merely at home but in public.
One thing that will work in our favor (I think) is that we now have a fine experiment underway in DC. After 32 years of the strictest gun control and the highest crime rates, now guns will presumably be proliferating into the hands of honest citizens. Over the next few years we have a beautiful experiment to prove that more guns = less crime. I’m confident that this is precisely what the data will show.
And, as usual, a lot of those suits against us will be financed by our own tax money.
And the gun-grabbers were sweating it out, too. There was the vey remote chance that the court would strike down ALL gun laws, including NFA and GCA. I wouldn't have minded.
My own view of "militia weapon" means that if it takes more than a crew of three to carry it, it needs a $5 "any other weapon" stamp.
I read an article day before yesterday about a man in DC who is a firearms instructor, who was waiting to see what the ruling would be. He’s anxious to start training folks in the safe use of handguns, rifles, etc.
Similarly Chicago, another social experiment gone awry. There are other similar places but Frisco and Chicago seem the next logical place to file suit. Heller was like the first good rain after a long dry spell. It will form the basis to challenge each and every infringement on our rights.
Ain’t that the truth, the antis use our tax money, we use our money.
$5 stamp, well, I’m sure most of us would be willing to donate much for a Hobbit Hole field piece. :-)
Micely marries? Ohfertheluvva...
“Nicely” marries. I meant.
LOL! I read it like you meant it, not like you wrote it. Funny how that happens.;o)
