Motherhood is the hardest job I've ever had to do in my entire life! Sometimes a mother feels she was put on earth to learn how to take crap and come back for more. Those are the bad days. The good days are sublime.

Thank you for the appreciating us and the job we do.

Wow...you sound like a really nice guy. So many threads on FR are insulting toward women, blaming us for everything that’s wrong with the world, that there are certain topics I don’t even click on...and some I click on and then regret it immediately. So it’s very refreshing to find a post like yours! Thanks, and my compliments to your parents!

Darn it! I can’t have one of those. I’m still nursing. ;0)

Our pediatrician gave me the AOK to have a nice cold brew while breastfeeding. He said the best time is immediately before a feeding--the alcohol can even aid in "let-down" for moms having trouble with that. If you're drinking a beer while your'e feeding, the alcohol won't have time to make it into the breastmilk, and the alcohol should be well metabolized by the time your next feeding comes around.

I'm one of those dames who really enjoys the taste of beer, so I took that green light to heart--but I never had more than one an eve while I was still breastfeeding. Mommy passed out cold on the couch is such a nasty sight, and I'm a lightweight :*}

I sure hope you do get the chance to enjoy parenthood. Second only to spousehood, IMO!

Thanks for the thread and the ping!

Honestly, I’m really not much of a beer drinker. I do have an adult beverage about once a week because I enjoy it without worrying too much about it. I haven’t seen any side effects from the older 3 and I did the same with them. I think he’ll be okay!! ;0)

“So, here’s raising a glass in my furry paw to all of the great Moms out there....I’m hoping that those around you will make you feel appreciated every single day! :-)”

Your mama did a good job raising you!

Awwww....you're very kind, thank you very much  :-)

I'm just an average, scruffy critter who calls 'em as I see 'em.

The notion that Ladies in general and particularly Conservative Moms are worthy of every possible accolade can hardly be a revolutionary thought, after all....seems pretty obvious to me :-)

-A New Mama who hopes her kids might one day post the same thing

The mere fact that you found your way to Free Republic suggests to me that you have a lot going for you, and so undoubtedly your children will also   :-)

(Congratulations on the "New Mama" part as well!)

Thanks for the drink, Mr. Stoat! The spouse, children, and pets all agree that moderate amounts of the Good Stuff improve me greatly :-).

You're quite welcome!  :-)

I would only wish to offer one small observation, which is that from my perspective you don't need any improvement   :-)

Actually, I think they invented money because of that jealousy. And they invented math to keep track of their first invention.

Thank you for the article, very funny! I’ll take a rum and diet coke for my drink though... or a mojito! :)

You're quite welcome and I'm delighted that you liked it  :-)

(Ladies should always have exactly what they want  :-))

I would concur with the article and because motherhood is the greatest job in the world, mothers are also the luckiest people in the world! : )

Thank you so very much for your exceptionally kind and gracious words.  I'm very saddened, however, to find that you've encountered so very many unpleasant threads of this nature.  Sadly there's a lot of pain in the world, and many people are moved to express that pain in a medium where they are anonymous, and that anonymity encourages some to say things that are outside the realm of polite discourse.  I would like to think that I would say the things that I do online in exactly the same way if I were sitting next to that person whom I'm speaking with, but there are many who instead use the cloak of anonymity as an excuse to be vicious and hurtful in ways that I can't conceive of them being in the 3-D world....they would be instantly beaten into the ground in many cases   :-)

I hope also that you may give a bit of slack to those who simply don't express themselves very well...a common affliction, given the state of modern education (I took a required 'speech' class in college and the word 'oratory' never came up....and the instructor upbraided me for using words that are uncommon to the Spongebob Squarepants generation....the problems of that course are enough to warrant a thread of their own).  One thing I've noticed is that many online posters will use the word 'women' in a context where they really should have used the phrase 'militant feminist', given the subject at hand.  Perhaps they're just being lazy, perhaps they think that others know what they are talking about, perhaps they are just inarticulate or even intentionally unkind.  I'm not trying to make excuses for others....I'm merely pointing out something that I'm sure you're aware of anyway  :-)

Thank you again for your very kind words....here's a nice piece of cheesecake for you   :-)

And Conservative Moms? Well, in my view, they are the Crown of Creation and the Light of the Universe....they are easily God's finest Work.

I guess I could be classified as one of those, although I think I may have done my job too well. My one and only offspring grew up to be Libertarian. LOL

I'd have to say, I think my son is God's finest work, I just helped a bit. ;-)

Someone once said, "Your true vocation is the thing you cannot live without." If that's true, then mine was motherhood.

Mothers might well deserve the words (although they were used in another context): "You are a good and faithful servant. You have done the work that I have given you to do."
