nope, IMO neither one was. the .458 was a new ruger, the 45-90 was a recent reproduction sharps shiloh- altho they are exotic enough to make you really wince at ammo prices.

If you want exotic, you are going to have to pay for ammo. Here in the states, .50 BMG ammo is around $4 per round (or two pounds for you per bang). I can't imagine what 20mm ammo might sell for. A lot.

I have settled for a .45-70 Marlin and a single-shot Harrington and Richardson. I can get .45-70 ammo from around $1 per round if I reload or find bargains.

It isn't really exotic but it sure is a big bang, with a big fireball and lots of recoil, if you use hot ammo. It approaches the .458 Winchester magnum.
