A Kokomo man was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after accidentally shooting himself in the genitals while in the process of robbing a Village Pantry.
Police said Derrick Kosch, 25, Kokomo, shot himself as he was placing the handgun in the waistband of his pants after robbing the convenience store at 100 N. Ohio St.
The in-store surveillance cameras showed the suspect shooting himself as he placed his weapon into the waistband of his pants.
As investigators were working the scene, 911 received a call about a person at 1041 E. North St., who had been shot. Officers arrived at the residence and discovered Kosch had a gunshot wound to his right testicle and lower left leg.

they found him at his grandmother’s house, almost a mile from the scene of the crime. Could you really run that far if you were hurt ‘there’?

His elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top floor. Actually, I think it stops about half way up.

It’s a good thing Raven only makes .25s. Any bigger and he would have killed himself.

Like the Son of Sam serial killer, this would-be robber was being told what to do by his dog.

Wee Willy Winkie,
Runs through the town.
Upstairs and downstairs,
In his night gown.
Knocking at the windows,
Spying through the lock.
Pulling out his pistol,
shooting his own...
