Czech Egyptologists uncover intact 4,500 year-old tomb

..."There are not so many finds of this type. Such finds, intact burial sites from the Old Kingdom from the 3rd millennium are very rare and they give very good insight into the behaviour and habits of Egyptians at that time. The burial chamber was found completely intact, that means the same state as when it was first sealed 4,500 years ago." In the four-by-two metre chamber experts found a sarcophagus with the skeletal remains of a priest who lived in the time of the Egyptian Old Kingdom. Named Neferinpu, he was a member of the Egyptian middle-upper class. Also uncovered in his death chamber were the remains of relatives, as well as jewellery, ornaments and burial artefacts which survived the ravages of time... Neferinpu, who was 50 when he died...

AWESOME!!!!

The Old Kingdom - the time of the pyramid builders - is my favorite period of ancient Egyptian history. Just to see the name of someone who lived 4,500 years ago is incredible.

These archaeologists also found Old Kingdom-era jars filled with food for the afterlife. One of them had the same kind of beans found in similar jars in tombs dating from the New Kingdom. I guess Egyptian rulers of all ancient eras had the toot in common.
