What I really like most about this whole sad mess is how the "authorities" are bending over backwards to deny that the smoke from the (un)controlled burn they conducted might be at least partially responsible. Typical CYA from those large and in charge.

From last night’s news at around 8:20 PM ... they were just clearing the last semi-trailer and thought there was structural damage to the roadway (assume fire / heat damage). Crews were standing by for an emergency resurface. Does anyone have the AM status of the highway?

I’m originally from Polk County. The Green Swamp produces some the thickest fog known to Florida. They knew damned well that burning around that area in the Winter which produces this pea soup fog EVERY YEAR could be a disaster whether the controlled burn went outside the designated area or NOT.
The natural fog combined with this small burn WAS a disaster.
Our division of Forestry and Water Management are morons!
