Exactly. I don't fault the tiger, I fault the humans. A caretaker should know better than to stand that close. She's been with the zoo since 97' but accidents do happen in the workplace.

I don’t see it as an “either” “or” situation.

She shouldn’t have been standing that close AND the tiger should not been in that type of a cage where it could reach out towards anyone.

The workplace "workstation" (where she was supposed to feed the cats) was improperly designed.

OSHA should have been brought in on that one.

I was thinking here that if the cat could be manacled, like they do people on "reach in and the big thing goes smash on the anvil" jobs, then when the cat reached out to touch/slash/eat the zoo worker, she'd been yanked back out of the way by a large chain.

Just a thought.
