Contrary to uninformed internet posts which reported that the Akins Accelerator Bumpfire rifle stock is "officially Dead", this is not correct.
Mr Bowers who was president and one of the directors of Akins Group Inc resigned as president. That is all. Mr Bowers did not solely comprise Akins Group Inc and his resignation does not terminate the corporation nor does it mean the efforts to rectify the BATFE 2006-02 ruling are "officially dead". Nothing could be further from the truth. I am the inventor, exclusive patent owner, chairman of the board and a director of Akins Group Inc which manufactured the Akins Accelerator.
Not only is Akins Group Inc still in existance as a corporation, but the battle to overturn the Federal law violating BATFE 2006-02 ruling continues. Nothing has changed other than a director has resigned and his position has been replaced. Upon his resignation, Mr Bowers no longer speaks for Akins Group Inc and any opinions he has posted online since his resignation are not the official position or opinions of the board of directors of Akins Group Inc.

Thanks, Bill. It's a great project and neither your fault nor Tom's for the hassles that have resulted from the BATFE's capricious and changing rulings.
Perhaps the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling in the "District of Columbia v. Heller" case, expected to come sometime mid-summer, will help.

To fill in latecomers:
The “Akins Accellerator” is a novel device, replacing the stock of a rifle with a mechanism which results in a high rate of semi-auto fire - think “bump firing” turned into a quality product.
The BATFE was consulted about the legality of such a product. They declared it lawful.
Mr. Akins et al commenced production and sale.
The BATFE then reversed their decision, and confiscated all (or at least critical parts of all) product produced. Buyers were contacted and their purchases effectively confiscated.
Mr. Akins et al have subsequently been battling this reversal in court.
A major contributor in the organization, Mr. Tom Bowers, recently resigned - raising doubt about the continued fight to reverse the confiscations. His action is understandable.
Thankfully, Mr. Akins has, per this thread, announced that all is well (or as well as can be expected given the circumstances) with the company and the case. There is hope that we will see the Akins Accellerator legal again soon.
Later the was another assembly that allowed a second shot when the trigger was released.

In fact, it's on my "Wish list". BATFE "legal" or otherwise...
With the US Vs Rock Island Armory being a "win" for firearms manufactures, I can't see the BATFE's arbitrary asshattery standing up to a decent court challenge.
The BATF has, on occasion, declared that a particular firearm fell under NFA'34 after having earlier found that it did not. Most such cases involved twelve-gauge repeating shotguns. When a firearm has been reclassified, the people owning such firearms have been required to register them, but were allowed to do so tax-free; any future transfers would require a $200 tax payment and other paperwork. Had the BATF been able to implement the same policy with the Accelerator, they probably would have done so.
The problem is that the way the FOPA is written effectively prohibits the BATF from grandfathering existing units while banning new ones. The inability to grandfather could pose an interesting problem, since declaring people's property to be contraband by fiat--especially after having previously declared that it was legal--constitutes deprivation of property without due process.
Like I said, any decent lawyer should be able to tie the BATFE in knots. The sooner this unConstitutional organization goes the way of the Dodo, the safer we’ll all be.
