If Alex Rodriguez could handpick the team he plays for, Boston might well be No. 1 on his list. According to a source who has talked to Rodriguez recently, he'd love to play for the Sox because he thinks they can win multiple championships. Meanwhile, agent Scott Boras has been pleasantly surprised with the early interest in Rodriguez. "Several teams have expressed an interest and there have been a couple of surprise teams I never expected to hear from," he said. Boras would not reveal any names (one of the surprise teams is thought to be the Marlins). Asked whether A-Rod would be OK shifting to shortstop, Boras said, "I haven't really discussed that with Alex yet. I will if there's a need to." Whither the Yankees? "That's something I will keep between Brian Cashman and myself," Boras said. "I'm not making any more comments about the Yankees."

The Red Sox are a perfect fit for him, IMHO - anywhere else he'll just be the big fish in a small pond, piling up 50 HR, 150 RBI seasons for 78-84 fourth place teams.

That is ARod’s legacy — great stats, great talent, doesn’t understand the concept of playing a role on a team to help the team win, regardless of what his role is. Making top dollar is his no. 1 priority.
At some point, a “winner” would settle for $20 million to play for the right team instead of chasing $25 million to play for a second division team. ARod isn’t one of those winners.
A-Rod may have impressive individual performance, but a team player he is not. Anybody remember Dick Allen? A-Rod isn't quite that bad, but he's working on it.
I don't know...the Red Sox are the only type of team with a chance to mold him into their way of doing things. If he goes to a team where he is expected to be the big star and team leader, they will never win anything.Jeez, we had enough trouble with "Nancy" Drew this year. I love my champion Red Sox just the way they are thanks. A-girl can be somebody else's problem.

What’s with the Drew hate? What “trouble” did we have with him? The guy really came through in the playoffs and he’s a member of the 2007 World champs. Cut the guy some slack.
