McNabb stands by what he says
Defends comment on HBO that black QBs face added pressures

Donovan McNabb says black QBs' performances are judged by different standard from whites'.
DONOVAN MCNABB smiled as the first question came at him, some innocuous query about the Detroit Lions.
He smiled, because he knew what was next.
The day after HBO aired a "Real Sports" episode in which McNabb spoke about the criticisms lobbed at black quarterbacks, the Eagles quarterback sat in what he knew would be a hot seat inside the NovaCare auditorium (though contrary to reports, McNabb did not storm out of the news conference. Public relations director Bob Lange asked for a final question and once it was asked and answered, McNabb got up and walked out).
"No, no, no," McNabb told the Daily News last night, when asked whether he had left in a huff. "Bob cut it short, and I was, like, that's it, so I walked out. I wasn't angry. I was smiling."
During the news conference, McNabb said he knew when the story was taped in August that whenever it aired, it would be met with skepticism and criticism, but that even now, front and center to the backlash, he doesn't regret his comments.
"If a question is asked, I'm going to answer it," McNabb said. "I've been in this business a long time. If I don't answer the question, it's an issue. If I don't answer the question, it's an issue. It's just reality. I only speak on facts. It's only something I've been part of and other quarterbacks before me and after me have been part of.

What a steaming pile of B.S!
Oh yeah, I think that is noted in their QB rating. You can only see the color column with special glasses though. It is hidden between the TD and INT columns.
As a Skins fan I have watch McNabb for 7 years. My take is he was only dangerous when he could run for first downs. Put him in a big game and he will choke. I have seen it over and over again. BTW, I certainly enjoyed watching my black quarterback beat the Eagles last Monday. What does it say about McNabb that when things don’t go his way (lost 6 out of the last seven games he started) somehow the color of his skin needs to be discussed. Shoosh, either you can still play the game or not. My guess Philly had a good reason to draft a QB.
Yeah, I’d say a different standard. For the better part of the last decade the most over-hyped player in the NFL was Michael Vick. Always on the verge of fulfilling his potential, the most talented QB ever.... blah blah blah. I’m just thankful we won’t have to listen to that continually this season.
It’s always the last swirl in the bowl when QB’s do this.
Yeah, our black quarterbacks are judged so differently, that, until recently, Jacksonville had 3 of them.
Who was the reporter who asked Doug Williams, when he took the Redskins to the Super Bowl
How long have you been a black quarterback?
I agree with McNabb.
Black teammates treat black quarterbacks very differently than white ones.
McNabb is an idiot.
And an awful bad QB to boot!
As a lifelong Jints fan I’ve seen plenty of McNabb. When he arrived, he was expected to lead them to the promised land. While he has had some amazing performances (all too frequently against the Jints), he’s had some games where he really misfires (i.e. Super Bowl). I’d love to see the column/report or whatever that criticized him for missing this throw or that after a 300 yard game. All athletes are judged on individual stats and rings on the their fingers. After you’ve shown you can put up the stats, fans are looking for the titles and if you don’t deliver them, you’re criticised as not having met expectations. For some good examples, look at Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino and, until very late in his career, John Elway.
Rush was right that the leftist sports press propped up McNabb, and then went apolplectic when he called them out on it.
Which proved his point.
And we have a winner.
Every freak’n year I would have to explain why Vick was over rated but every year the same idiots would say he is the greatest thing since sliced bread as soon he had one good game. Mind you it was 1 good game out of 6 but that never mattered.
Also McNabb has been making excuses for as long as I can remember. I sided with Owens during that whole debacule. Grant he is a pompus ass but he was right.
Evidently in Philly they think this way - not in DC. As you pointed out the real first Black QB won a Super Bowl with the Redskins. It was probably one of the greatest comebacks any QB has performed. The only one better in my mind was Buffalo’s Rich comeback against the Oilers.
Forgot to mention Warren Moon, a fantastic QB.

No. Does anyone watch a game thinking about the black receiver? Or any other position? Seriously, no one pays attention to that anymore, or even notices it to any degree. It's a team we're watching.
