I think I shall strive someday to use that word in a story. Maybe not this year though.

Yob I know, at least.

Come to think of it, that’s one synonym for thug I haven’t used yet in my space story. And it’s a good one.

Heh. But it was worth it. I remember just being utterly blown away. But the lightsabers were totally over the top.

The cruiser flyover did it for me. "Massive" did just not do it justice.

Interesting that PJs combat system is called "Massive. But most of his special effects are so seamless, and so integrated into the story, that they're just accepted as part of the image.

I was "sold" on the opening scenes of the Shire in FOTR not because some grand special effects blew me away, but because PJ read my mind and produced the exact images I wanted to see.

Well just to make you feel old*...

Star Wars was the *first* movie I ever saw in my life. I was three. I wasn't old enough to remember the story or even that it was a "movie", but I remembered the images and for a long time I thought the images were just dreams. I got a clue when VHS came along, but anyway. It's a special movie to me.

*... because turnabout is fair play, my new officemate informed us today she was only four when the Berlin Wall fell. *sigh* I'm getting old, too.

Heh, Clare says that Stephen is quite the social butterfly! She saw him in the Common Room of her dorm yesterday, asked him if he was Stephen, and he recognized her and remembered her name. You must have told him to look for her. She said he was there with his guitar strapped to his back. Several of the girls already knew him; some from the orientation team, but some of them new students like him. Sounds like he’s gonna have a fun year!

I think high schools should be for remedial students and all half-decent students spend their last two years *at* community college.

SirKit agrees with you! He would have loved not having to sit in his high school the last couple of years. He was bored out of his skull!

For the first movie, SirKit and I, and a friend of his who was visiting from out of town, showed up at the theater about an hour before the movie, and that showing was already sold out. We got tickets for the next one, and went out to eat. Timing worked out great!

I finally addressed the problem light (the former exterior light that’s now interior since thesunroom got built.) Just needed a new switch. Now I can look for a more stylish wall sconce fixture to put up there.

*rolls eyes*

Yeah...if I was there, I'd probably be mortified. He's the worst flirt. It's painful to be around him.

Glad he's doin' OK, though.

ROTFL!! What a hoot! You ARE young! When Paul was about 9 mths old, we took him to see Empire Strikes Back. He got fussy, and I had to take him out, and MISSED the big "Luke, I am your father", revelation!! ARGH!

My sister, and her three kids, were visiting us in Tallahassee, and they were at the movies with us.. Of course, the kids came running out and told me the big news, as soon as the movie was over.

ohfercryinoutloud...

That would be How the West was Won. I was also three and no, I don't remember it.

The first one I remember seeing is Shenandoah. Still a sentimental favorite.

Clare said he looks like he’s enjoying it immensely! At least he’s getting to hang around some nice Catholic girls. ;o)

Yeah.

Ungh...he’s just such a blow hard! And he thinks he’s the be-all and end-all of cool sometimes.

I can’t remember if he still has the longish hair. He had a sort of Beatles cut last time I saw him, which looked pretty silly, IMO. But I was told that I just don’t understand what’s fashionable. ;-)

Well, he IS 18 or 19, isn't he? I imagine if he gets out of hand, one of the girls will set him straight! ;o)

Clare called this afternoon and said she went to the ribbon cutting ceremony this morning and stood sort of beside and behind a tall man, while she was trying to avoid all the TV cameras. Then about half way through the thing, she realized she was standing next to Fr. Fessio, and was likely in every shot they took of him! LOL! I asked her if she said hello to him, and she said she did. She didn't mention the Student Barbecue this afternoon, so she may not have known about it. But she was headed over the the Student Center for supper, so she probably ran into it on the way.

The first one I remember seeing is Shenandoah.

In my case it was 'Bambi'. A few years later I read the full length novel, as translated from the German by Whittaker Chambers.

You know, my guess is that very few people remember any more that it *was* a novel first.

Same goes for “One Hundred and One Dalmatians”. I *loved* that book, and I’m still annoyed at a lot of the changes that occurred between book and movies.

That was an excellent book! So different from the Disney version, as usual.
