We have “rotating” meetings, so that once a year, we change the times we meet, and every third (or fourth) year, we’re back where we started.

In the meantime, we have get-togethers about three or four times a year that involve all the people in all the meetings. It works out well.

Well, the summers around the Treasure Valley (Boise out to Ontario, OR) are plenty warm enough, but you might struggle a bit with the humidity; it’s above 30% almost all of the time.

I couldn’t function without polarized sunglasses. I like the “yellow” ones because they cut the blue rays, which is the cause of most of the glare.

(Part of McCarran IA has lost it’s power, and Nevada Power is hot after the problem. Or something...)

But then, temps are seldom in the 100’s, there. Maybe in isolated spots, but still...

I grew up next to a lake, and we would have fog in the winter. I know it was “humid” in the summer, but not by Clark County standards.

It was “warm and humid,” but it was livable. I’ve seen enough of the country to know this is what I like!

I can't open my shades enough to get all the light that I want. And there are no overhead lights in this place except in the kitchen. (I need to free up some space for another lamp!!)

I'm becoming more like my German colleagues. Office lights remain off (unless I REALLY need them) so the lighting is grey. I don't especially like the loss of color, but it's beginning to feel more comfortable somehow.

(That I'm not burning energy unnecessarily, well, I've always been a conservative wrt my wallet&resources.)

Germans put the Scots to shame when it comes to being frugal. As cold as it got there, the landlord of the house would not turn the furnace on until almost the end of October. By then the ground was hard, and we either had snow or rain, and LOTS of sticky mud.

Well, they’re on a hot streak this year. So far, they’ve had 10 day’s of 100+ weather with a couple more forecast before month’s end.

Scanning back a few years it looks like they average about 11 days of 100+ weather from June to the end of August.

Average high through late July/early August is 91, though, so compared to your place it’s comparatively cool.

Hey, we all know those Germans put a real premium on their “frische luft”. They’ll leave the windows cracked open in the dead of winter just to get a draft of the outdoor air.

LOL! Yeah, back BEFORE it became the yuppie haven of [speaking like a butler] "Aneheim Hills".

Back when, I could walk to the intersection at the foot of my cul de sac, cross the street, and climb right up into the chapparal with the deer, coyote, road runners, and diamond backs. Worst that ever happened to any of us was one of the guys from a couple of streets up lost hs balance traversing a thoughtfully-placed 2x12 and sat down in a big patch of opuntia phaecantha.

Some of the more rowdy neighbors took after the dozer operators with pellet rifles when the developers came to level the nearby hills. To no avail, of course.

The biggest irony of all, however, is what'll happen to you if you go out to the edge of the developments and try to take a walk out into parts of the hills that haven't been built up or paved over. You'll be out there enjoying the undeveloped hills for something less than half an hour before Anaheim PD has thier ghetto bird orbiting above you, and the copilot is on the PA ordering you back to civilization.

"Public property" my fine, white --

THAT'S what really hacks ME off. [Ya couldn't tell, could ya?]

Dang! As a kid I did the same too, just the vents, but kept my nose close...

Today’s forecast for the Bluewater Area- 75 and moist. At least we’re finally getting some rain in Michigan. The corn doesn’t look so good and heaven knows we need all the corn we can get so we can burn it in our cars for no good reason.

There... the weather and political commentary in one short paragraph. Back to work.
