Sun says they expect to beat IBM with a 1.7 petaflop computer, soon to be released:

Of course it’s not officially out yet, and we haven’t seen what IBM will do next.
Something a bit awkward sounding about “petaflop” to my ear.
Does it come with Windows Vista?
This is simply false, of course. HP has more supercomputers on the list than IBM, with IBM’s overall share dropping from 47 percent to 38 percent since the last report.

Long time ago in a galaxy far, far away ... I had the opportunity to meet Seymour Cray. Great fellow.
I do software development for seismic processing and we run 100s of clusters with 1000s of nodes in parallel, so I am wondering what these winning computers are configured as? There’s no “wow” factor for me without that info. If you run enough computers in parallel you can achieve practically anything you want.
