A young girl is dead after a boating accident on Lake Travis Saturday.
It happened just after 7:00 p.m. in Paradise Cove.
Texas Parks and Wildlife says the girl and her father were traveling at a high rate of speed when their boat hit the wake from another boat.
Their boat went airborne and came down hard enough to crack the hull.
Both the girl and her father were thrown from the boat.
She suffered head trauma. He has a broken leg. Both were taken to Brackenridge Hospital.
She died from her injuries.
The boat kept running at high speed in circles.
A game warden jumped from her boat to get the other under control.
Their identities have not been released.
May she rest in peace.
That’s got’a just haunt him and ruin his whole damn life...
Very sad, but why is this posted here?
hope he can cope but daymn
And .. where would you post it ..??
sad, must have been the helicopter
Man thats gonna be hard to life with.
Prayers for this family.
The question is why, not where.
Hey, I’ve got an idea. Hold my beer and watch this. We’ll see what this sucker will do.
You don’t find the personal risk taken by the game warden to add quite a compelling angle to the story?
Well .. why not ..??
I’m anxious to know the name of the family. I have business associates in Austin and I’d like to find out if I know these people.
The game warden definitely deserves a commendation for that. Too bad about the girl.
Most likely the reality.
“The question is why, not where.”
As a warning to others.
Sad Story. Dad Screwed up and will likely never forgive himself.
The bottom line is that Lake Travis is a crowded and dangerous lake and dad should have known that and controlled his speed and watched where he was driving.
If alcohol was involved, as it is in most Travis boating accidents, daddy needs to be in prison.
Most all boaters on Travis on a weekend are drunk and it is patrolled by Travis County and Texas Parks and Wildlife who will not hesitate to arrest people for BWI.
Too bad the cops did not get to this guy in time.
The key is tethered to the skipper and it works.
It wouldn't have helped the poor girl or negligent father, but the boat would've stopped.
Who knows maybe the girls head traima was caused by the circling boat hitting her after the wave.
Kill switch, great idea and cheap.
It also didnt say if they were wearing life vests.
Im pretty sure by law kids in Tx have to be wearing one when the boat is running.
Bad judgement on his part speeding with a kid in the boat
in the 1st place imo.
He had bought a cigarette-type boat and hit another boat's wake while speeding around in the Chesapeake Bay..
he suffered a broken leg and his girlfriend drowned.
