My mother in law will be 92 in July. My grandmother helped raise me and she was born in 1888. It is so important to have that link to a different time. My mother was the first in her family to go to college. My dad’s siblings were the first on his side. He came of age as the depression hit and had to go to work so he was determined that all three of his children would go to college. We did and we all three got advanced degrees. I was the youngest and the last to get my advanced degree. One of the two times I ever saw him cry.
