I know you don’t want to talk about it but is it just me that found left-leaning activism in the episode? It was the same as hearing the wacky lefties screaming about tramping individual freedoms and so on ... I was actually upset!

Painkiller Jane is a pain to watch, dressing a hot chick in leather - alone will not do the trick. However, season 3 Doctor Who which is airing in the UK right now, and I think will air in the US later this year, is great. Just got done watching the first 5 episodes, and they are killer.

No, I have not seen it. I’ll have to check it out, if it’s on bittorrent.

I don't want to talk about last week's 24.
It always conflicted with Heroes.
When 24 jumped the shark about Jack's girlfriend and an exchange with the Chinese, I bailed.
Happy to say I watch Heroes now at that time slot.

The problem was that the action was for an 1/2. Most of it was talking, however, I don’t think we want to give up freedom in a name of security.. I did think that having the Prometheus as Air Force 1 was cool...

I don’t think that any sane person wants that but the arguments used in the episode and the rhetoric hit close to home not to make me wonder if this was an episode meant to send out the message we keep hearing from the left: abandoning individual rights for security, allowing the government (and in this case, mind you, this wouldn’t be an issue if a Democrat were to lead our nation instead of Mr. Bush) to dictate your rights and obligations and so on...then Cameron stuck in a wheelchair, the way he was “used” to profit Landry’s administration is the same thing that the lefties are accusing the White House of doing. I am telling you, way too many coincidences to be just coincidences !

That episode of SG-1 was sort of a peek at SG-1's "Mirror, Mirror".

About halfway through, I looked at my girl and said, "Is it just me, or should everyone there have a beard?"

I must respectfully disagree.

What's "left-leaning" about opposing the brutal domestic dictatorship portrayed in last week's SG-1 episode?

Martial law?? No elections? Total government control of the media? FedGov's jackboots using captured Goa'uld technology to subdue and oppress We The People? The "President" ruling by decree from his orbital battleship?

Sounds like everything we Freepers have been fighting against since day one, IMHO.

I was glad to see Samantha Carter make herself so much of a pain in the ass to FedGov that they went ahead and sent her back to "our" world.

You are taking my comment completely out of line and generally applying it to the whole episode. If you were not able to detect some dogmatic rhetoric in last week's episode, than I feel sorry. EG: the comment made how the government is keeping a tight lid on the media is exactly what we keep hearing from the left about the war in Iraq, despite the fact that they have had more direct, front line access than ever. How about how the military hero was "used" for propaganda and once they didn't need his help they dropped him like a hot potato? Oh yeah, and Cameron in a wheel chair was a nice touch, "born in Fourth of July" came to mind mixed with a drunk Lt Dan in "Forest Gump". The elections had to be mentioned so the moldy idea of an "illegitimate" president (hello 2000 elections!) would be brought forward again (and I could go on with the analogies for a while but it's time for church). The episode was written in such way for most people to escape it's true message. Frankly, I was surprised that this didn't come any sooner! My point is that we do have our freedom, it has not been taken away and I don't think we, as people, will allow it to happen. However I am tired to see these types of shows where they are trying to be activists instead of sticking to the story line which we all came to love. So your reaction of local freedom fighter is completely unwarranted. Besides, I think that we fought to maintain our freedom and judeo-christian beliefs as Americans and not FReepers. Thankfully, real freedom fighters like Jim is offering us the platform to express ourselves, make a difference and keep sowing the seed. I lived the first 15 years of my life in an oppressed society controlled by a bloody dictator so the last thing I would want is to lose what is the most precious about being an American and the last thing I want to read some knee-jerk reaction instead of a well-thought, analyzed action. I also have seen enough dogmatic ideologies carefully hidden as TV shows or cartoons or well written books to be able to pick on the "selling" points of last weeks episode. And I also proudly served in the US military to give back all I could to my country and I know the people who serve and I know my friends, family, neighbors, colleagues to realize that they will never allow for these freedoms to be taken away. No matter what! My faith lays in God and the people!

Cheers!
