Well technically it is a vegetable(part of the Cucurbitaceae family of veggies). In use a fruit,but in reality a vegetable. Tomatoes are the opposite in use they are a vegetable in reality a fruit.

A tomato IS a fruit, but then again, so is a watermelon.
