Why are people anti American Idol? It's harmless entertainment.
Oh, I don't know. The press release above certainly doesn't describe their position or anything.
I had to click on this thread. I thought it was a followup to the one about the girl who got dropped (not enough votes) after singing a Vichy Chicks song.
I figured Anti-American Idol fans were demanding a recount.
I didn't start out hating American Idol, I just didn't care about it one way or the other. I'm glad people are entertained by it, but it's not the kind of thing I would choose to watch in my leisure time. I don't watch the Oscars either, but they only show up once a year.
What I am against is being constantly bombarded by the shameless self promotion American Idol pseudonews that Fox injects into "news" shows. I feel the same way about Steve Doocy and his stupid book.
Being self employed and working from home, I have a national or local Fox news show on TV throughout the morning for background noise, and hopefully a little news.
I approach the speed of light hitting the mute button when annoying commercials come on (HEAD ON! HEAD ON! HEAD ON!), and do the same when they start into one of their American Idol segments. American Idol blurbs are nothing more than advertising in the guise of news.
"Hey Fox, buy a friggin ad already, don't spoon feed me with this bleep and call it news".
American Idol Overload has pissed me off so much that I've also started changing completely away from Fox when I can't escape it, as happened this morning when Fox national and local had dueling Idol "stories".
As much as I loathe CNN, I've started switching to Headline News. Robin Meade is so cute and blithely bubbly, it's hard to get pissed off by what she's saying. I don't have any expectations of hearing any worthwhile news on CNN, so it's hard to be dissapointed, and the eye candy is soothing.
Poke me in eye with enough American Idol sticks and I start hating the stick.
