I will never understand the popularity of this show, sadly.
Strange as it may seem, this is one of the few shows my wife and I watch. We don't tune in each week, but will make a point to sit down and watch it if for no other reason than to take a break.
Taylor Hicks will likely not even break a million albums sold which will be the first time that happened.
4th place finished last year, Chris Daughtry, meanwhile, already has a platinum album and it might go double the way it is going.
The voting is done by the American public but in fairness, there have been a few people who have made careers from it.
I've never seen anything more than the ads for it and I'm not sad about that.

Judge Simon being snarky.
Me either.
People who watch it need to get a life of their own.
That is just sad.
It is a good family show.
I'm not a fan of the show either.
I mean, it's about this 'package' which I gather is
singing VERY loudly and waving your arms around. A beautiful voice is totally unknown (which is why I can't watch it).
I've heard one or two,
no make that one, who actually has a good voice (Josh Groban?) The rest are just volume and emotions and cute or charming.
The horror to me is that it's picking up in other countrys like "Star Primes" where they are trying to get the girls to act sexier while they sing, and the actual vocal quality gets ignored. Sad, because the great voices are being lost because of this crap.
Have you ever watched it?
Me either. But for better or worse AI is part of our culture now.
