Could it be because Jesus as a baby is the "Silent Word" and because other then for the normal cries of being a newborn baby, Jesus by this silent present and his great love is calling us to accept the gift of eternal life?
As Easter is the feast of the Son victorious over death, sin, and Satan, Pentecost is the feast of the coming of the Holy Spirit that gives birth to the Christian church, Christmas is the feast of the great love of the Heavenly Father.
Excellent thought, maybe through all the noise we need that silence as in Paslm 46:10.
"Be still and know that I am GOD. I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."
