Some of the "Fighting Tigers" are fighting mad at Governor Blanco. As noted in the press, there are unofficial reports that LSU Tigers are going to the Rose bowl. After this was announced, Governor Blanco began making phone calls that haven't exactly impressed LSU fans. Several fans have approached THE DEAD PELICAN expressing a mixture of outrage and ridicule, claiming that Blanco is trying to take credit for something that isn't her doing. Other LSU fans haven't forgotten about Blanco's tail gate party for ULL, at the same time that university was playing the LSU tigers.
According to a statement issued by the governor's office yesterday, "The Governor spoke with Rose Bowl President and CEO Paul Holman about the Tigers' successful season and enthusiasm surrounding the possibility of the first Rose Bowl invitation in LSU history. Last month Gov. Blanco hosted Holman and Tournament of Roses Committee members at the Governor's Mansion in Baton Rouge during the group's visit to Louisiana. She also spoke directly with Orange Bowl President Eric Poms late this afternoon about the possibility of the Tigers heading to Miami."
Not all of LSU's fans were impressed.
Several readers have scoffed at Blanco's statement. "I case you were wondering how LSU got invited to the Rose Bowl, here it is," said one sarcastic observer. "Talk about getting in front of the long line!"
The reaction among other Tigers fans was less subtle. And it wasn't pretty.
One Tigers fan and DEAD PELICAN reader responded with anger and profanity.
"Blanco's going to f*** this up," she said.
Within hours after the press release, TIGERDROPPINGS.COM, an LSU fan site and message board lit up with angry, vitriolic responses.
Some of them are not printable, but the following quotes are an accurate representation:
"I think this is a BIT sad, no? Does the governor or Texas, Michigan, California, or states with other major colleges feel the need to do this?"
"It's like Idaho's gov calling for Boise State. Makes it feel like we really DON'T belong."
"I heard she is offering them FEMA cards to take LSU."
"Anything for a vote Kathy?"
"What a friggin' joke. Everybody knows where HER allegiance lies. Too bad USL won't even see the New Orleans Bowl, much less the Rose. "
"Guess what? I'm still voting for Bobby next year. Football ain't everything."

Governor Blank-O
'Don't Blame Me, I Voted for Jindal.'
LSU is ranked #5 in the country and if Florida loses today will move up to #4. Unless Blanco was playing football for LSU, she has nothing to do with LSU getting a BCS bowl bid. The Rose Bowl is drolling over the possibility of a #3 Michigan vs. #4 LSU.
She isn't any different that the Chocolate City Mayor....you guys put them in office....enjoy.....
Exactamundo! Unfortunately, though, at the federal level we all get to "enjoy."
Don't say you guys. I do not live there.
Well if you don't live there, then you didn't elect them did you?????

duuuhh, I'm sorry, I thought your post was directed at me.
Bobby for Govenor.
That's very funny. The BCS should have a "What bowl your governor thinks you should play in" category. I'd take that over the Harris Interactive Poll any day!
Geaux Cajuns! I remember Dean Blanco, her husband. Two peas in the Louisiana Democratic pod.
LOL!
If it had been directed at us Jerseyites it would have been "Youse guys put him in office".
College football is alive in New Jersey and Rutgers is on later this evening.
Congrats on getting to the Rose Bowl.
Hey, LSU is not in yet. USC lost. lol. LSU might get USC in Rose or could be left out of BCS.
